Teeth Cleaning

This morning, the little girl went in to get her teeth cleaned. I absolutely hate having them have any type of procedure that requires them to be sedated, but as the doctor let us know it is really in her best interest to keep her teeth as clean and healthy as possible. So we dropped her off this morning without her breakfast. She was most upset about not getting her breakfast. And, as far as she knows, Benjamin, Henry & Cupid are starving right along with her today. We waited to feed them until after Luna left.
So, I am off to worry and work. I can’t wait until this afternoon when I can pick that little rugrat up.
Update: Luna is out of surgery. She is slowly waking up. We can pick her up late this afternoon.

We’ll be thinking of little Luna today and wishing her and you all the best!
I know exactly what you mean. Little Luna will be ok and will be the better for it. My Romeo does ok and it doesn’t take him long to be rarin to go, especially after food. Luna will be in our thoughts today.
Thinking of Luna, and you, with care and concern, from your pug frineds in NS
I know exactly how you feel. I always worry when any of my pugs have to go under anesthesia. Be sure to let us know how she made out.
Thinking of you Miss Luna and knowing all will go smoothly and you will have fresh, clean pearly whites…Will be anxiously awaiting an update to hear you are chomping happily on some treats!
Poor Luna. Our baby had to have her ears cleaned and she cried and peed on the table. It almost killed us, so I know how you feel. Best of luck.
Luna will do great. I always hate to have SB put under too, but it is for the best and for their health. Too bad the vet can’t give them a little “happy pill” to just relax them and be able to clean their teeth that way. Little Luna will have a pretty smile at the end of the day.
Poor Luna, no breakfast! So how do the boys react to Luna being gone? Do they seem to notice?
Just thinking of Luna and wishing the best
for her. She is one precious little pug.
But of course, so are her brothers. The first thing I do in the am when I get to work is see what your gang is up to. Makes
my day.
Yep, will keep her in my thoughts today also! She will have kissing sweet breath after her appointment and be sure to give her a big ol’ smacker from me, C.J. and Toeby!
Oh, and I’m thinking she might like a little punkin’ bread when she gets home (for being a good girl patient)!
There is a “dentist” affiliated with our groomer who cleans dogs teeth unsedated. He has looked at our Sassy’s teeth and recommends that we start next year. He claims that routine cleaning is healthier for them and by not using any kind of sedation is is not only better for the dog, but less worriesome for the owner. I will let you all know how it goes after we get it done. You can read more about it at http://petdentalservices.com/
Poor Luna; no breakgast and a teeth cleaning. We’re sending you lots of love Luna.
I also worried quite a bit when my puppies had to be sedated for teeth cleaning, especially Lucy, the pug, and my 10 year old chiweenie, Lizzie. So, I checked into teeth cleaning without anethesia. I have taken my 3 babies twice now and have had success each time. I never thought my dachshund, who can be quite nervous would go for it, but the hygenist did a great job cleaning his teeth while keeping him calm. Their teeth looked great.
In the interim, I give them lots of chewy toys and place teeth cleaning drops in their water to keep tartar build up under control. Dnowhat is correct, there is great information at http://petdentalservices.com/.
Yes, Luna does need a little pumpkin bread.
Poor little thing.. I am sure she will be just fine and have beautiful clean teeth!
That non sedation teeth cleaning sounds interesting..I will have to check it out.
Ohhh I am thinking of Ms. Luna today!
You weren’t able to find a non-anesthesia one? We have one here in California and I SWEAR BY IT! They do an amazing job and all it takes is patience there really isn’t any need to put them under unless they need one removed..
Oh Luna - you will have sparkling pearly whites!
I think we all need G-Ma’s recipe for pumpkin bread as a treat for our puggies!
I am sure it has been a very long day for you, because it has for me, as I am sit here wondering how Luna is doing…
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I just got the call from the vet that Luna’s cleaning is finished and she is slowly waking up. They said she is popping her head up whenever they walk by. I am sure she is waiting for them to bring her her breakfast and lunch
Ok, I just went to that pet dental website, and what is on the front of their brochure???
A PUG! The bad news for me is that they only have vets in CA and FL right now. I am going to ask my vet about this…seems like a great idea.
Yeah to Mz Luna…I think some “linner” is in order…That is lunch and dinner rolled into one. It’s too late for breakfast!
Glad your baby girl is doing well. I also HATE when we have to put them under.
Pat, I think we need the recipe for us humans! I’ve thought about asking because I’ve lost my really good version. :-(
And, Christina, in the south, it’s supper, not dinner, so my daughter and I call it “lupper” lol
YAY to the Miss…So happy to hear she’s getting her spunk back…I think she’s entitled to a big feast complete with pumpkin bread dessert when she gets home. Let’s see those pearly whites Miss Luna…smile pretty for the clicky thing!!
Ooooo, I know what you mean—our little Daisy went in about 6 weeks ago for a teeth cleaning, and I was a nervous wreck. Glad to hear Miss Luna is out of surgery!
Glad she’s out of surgery and doing okay. I hate having to put them under for the teeth cleaning too but Pearl has done it twice now. It was necessary and I"m glad we did it.
