I know we’ll all be thinking extra thoughts of comfort and care for Sue VDB and ROMEO.  I pray for the strength that love brings and the peace in the knowing what a wonderful caregiver you are to your ROMEO, Sue.

I would have to say that I would be hangin’ with Baby Benny. I’m a shade kind o’ gal.

Romeo had a fairly peaceful night.  This morning he barked at me while I was preparing his breakfast.  Right now he is not moving around much. 

I will give him all the extra love he needs.

I’d be in the shade with Benny, and trying to coax Henry to join us.  And wherever Luna is, I’d be after her, too.

Some like the shade some like the sun. Ruby Claire hasn’t figured out the sun-shade thing yet.

I think I’d do halves and then flip over once one side of me was done.  Abby would stay on the sun side definitely, Georgie for the shade and Gracie wherever the fun side is.  And Cooper?  Well…you know…a fool and his brain is soon parted.

Pug Mama, et al.  Dog Fancy for April 2012 is a puppy training issue (not that you need it) but even better, they have spotlighted Pugs and the cutest little baby (aren’t they all) is on the cover.  Thought I’d share that.  It seems I’ll buy anything that has a pug on it…anyone else that gullible?

As mush as I love the sun, I usually stick to the shade areas.  So, I would like to join Baby Benny and lounge in the shade, but if Henry would like to go a few rounds of catch, I would be happy to toss the ball to him.  Then I would go find Luna!

Huckle: Luna is probably in the house moisturizing her sweet little face.

It is in the 80’s and humid in SC already so all of the babies here are confined to the sunroom today. There will be no lizard chasing going on until evening.
Try as they may- they never catch one because the lizards are too fast.

LOL Kathleen!  That little Luna, sneaking off for her moisturizing.  Or maybe she had an appointment at the doggy spa? 

I’m with Henry, I’ll soak up the sun with him.

OK!!!! After all the snow and ice we have been having both Dakato and I go for the Sunnie Side.

Today a no snow!! Some sun!  Dakato and I really are enjoying it. She came in from doing her “thang” NO DRYING a freezing baby girl off and tring to get her warm!

Did wrap her in her blankie and gave her lots of loving. A daily rutual we both enjoy!!!

Sue VDB, did Romeo have another good night?  You’re in my thoughts.

Early this morning I was getting ready to take Romeo to the vet and release him.  He came into the kitchen and wanted to eat, so I gave him his regular meal and he ate it.  He went outside to poop and pee.  He is breathing almost exclusively through his mouth, and I think it is time, but he keeps fighting to live. 

I just gave him some bacon, and I don’t give people food, but want to give him something special, and he gobbled it up.

This is so hard.  All I do is watch him.  I want to be ready when he is, but he isn’t ready, even with all his problems.

You’ve got a terrible fight on your hands.  But, you will feel it when it’s time.  How I wish I could hug you and dry your tears but all I can do is type.  I don’t know what to tell you about how to think your way through this.  Maybe Pug Mama and Gina could help since they’ve recently gone through this lately?  Whatever and whenever road you take, you will have our support for it and for you.  We have your back even if we cannot be there. in person

Huckle, thank you, but this is a battle only Romeo and I can take on.  I will be fine, I am a strong person.  I have been through this eight times before, and I still have three other babies to take care of and I can’t fall down for them. 

I even got ready this morning to take him to the vet, and he went into the kitchen, wanting to eat.  I fed him and he gobbled it right down, even went outside to do his business. He is fighting so hard.

I think he is fighting so hard to live for me, and I have been holding him, smothering him with kisses (and yes, he tolerates every one of them), and hoping my body language conveys to him it is ok to go to the Rainbow Bridge, where he will have many other babies to greet him. If he persists, I may have to take the initiative and release him.

Please keep up the prayers and thoughts.

Oh Sue ~ I don’t know what to say. I do know that he will let you know. He will tell you when he is ready. God Bless you and please know that you are not alone. You have my number if you just need to talk or for any reason. Hugs to you and sweet Romeo.

R.I.P. my sweet, sweet Romeo. In the end I had to make the decision.  He wanted to live so much, but it was just too hard for him.  When I was holding him, he was bleeding in his little mouth.

I want all of you to know how much all of your support meant.  I know, too, you are weeping with me, but I can also be happy that Romeo has been met at the Rainbow Bridge by Amber, Puggy, Bunny, Sabrina, Tiger, Delbert, Hobo, Mandy, Colby and my most precious sweetheart BoPeep, and Jazzy.  Romeo no longer has to suffer, has no more cancer, no more back problems and is young again, happy and healthy. 

I love you Romeo.

Oh Sue~ I’m so sorry. So so sorry. I’m crying as I type this. He knows how much you did for him and even though he appreciated it while he was here, he is still appreciating it in heaven. I know Pip greeted him and is showing him the ropes. It sounds like you did the right thing Sue. I pray that God can comfort you and that you can feel all of the love and support from your OBP family. Please call me if you need to talk. I’m so sorry.

Sue, I will type to you later.  I can’t see the screen very well right now plus we have company.  You were very selfless in this and I admire your strength.

Sue VDB, I left kinda a stupid message on your phone, but the intent was good.  Touching out sometimes helps.  I’m like Gina, not sure of what to say and yet wanting to reach out.

Romeo is now using his determined little stinker personality at the Rainbow Bridge and all of your previous dogs are having a chat with him about how wonderful a mommie you were.  BTW, do you have any stories or thoughts about how Romeo was and would like to share with us?

You did the right thing for Romeo and you are blessed for it.  It doesn’t make it easier but you released him from pain and disease.  I hope we are as selfless when such a time comes.

We all care, remember that.  There have been a lot of sobs and tears on OBP this weekend because we have been so concerned about you and Romeo.

RIP little guy.

Huckle, I received your message, and will call you back.  I have had several messages today, plus email and facebook. 

I went on a retreat today, which I almost canceled yesterday, because I thought I needed to be Romeo.  It turns out it did me a world of good.  Now I am back home, and even though I have Mike, Ben, Missy, Minnie and Frankie, the house is unusually quiet.

Missy won’t eat.  She wouldn’t even take her meds in a pill pocket, which she loves. She usually visits me at night to lay on me, but this morning I found her in a corner where she never goes. 

I find myself talking to Romeo in the kitchen telling him to move so I can move around.  At the computer, I find myself looking before I get up so I don’t step on him. 

My grandson, Ben, was with me because everyone else was at work. He insisted on going it with me while I held Romeo.  Afterward, when I laid Romeo on the table, Ben said he saw Jesus with Romeo and Romeo was very happy.  He blinked his eyes and all he saw was Romeo.  He was in awe, and I thanked him for sharing that with me. 

When Romeo first came home, he didn’t want a lot to do with me, but sure took to Mike, my son.  But when he found out who fed him, took him outside, etc. he changed his tune pretty quick, and then stuck to me like glue.  He loved his new found freedom, and I think he let me know every day.

Romeo was a people dog, not a dog’s dog.  He much preferred people over other dogs, and during pug parties, he visited evey person there at least twice.  He tolerated the other dogs, but wanted no part of their playing.

I love you Romeo.

Thank you for sharing everything with us.  We are here for each other, and you are so very much in our thoughts and in our hearts.

I am so moved by what your grandson saw.  It is comforting to me, and I know it is to you!

Sweet little Romeo is now over the Rainbow Bridge playing and healthy and well.  He’s still loving you, Sue, and he always will.  And I’m just sure that Pip was right there waiting for him to show him around. 

Rest now, Romeo.  You will be missed.

Huckle and Martha ~ Both of you said things perfectly. And I agree Martha. Pip was waiting with a basket of treats for him and I’m sure they were running like crazy as Pip showed him around.

Sue VDB ~ Thank you for sharing that moment with us. I think it was wonderful what Ben saw and I’m so happy he told you. I explained things to my sister’s dog Frank after Pip passed b/c he was here all the time and we found that he was looking for Pip. I know this may sound silly but if you tell the other babies what happened, they might feel better or understand. God Bless you Sue.

SUE VDB:  I was away from my computer all weekend - but you were in my thoughts and prayers - and you still are.  I know you will continue to miss ROMEO everday - but (I feel) the hardest part is over - and no more worries about your sweet friend.  You know he’s found comfort and a release from his pain.  You can take comfort in that.  So glad you went on the retreat.  Take gentle care of yourself and your other babies at home and remember the good times with Romeo, as I’m sure you will.  You’ve a lovely, gracious spirit, SUE.  And we’re all with you.

I just had to get through reading the rest of these posts tonight before I could close my eyes to sleep. Idky, but I just have to go through everything with all of you here. The joys, the laughter, heartache and tears. I wish I could have been here when you needed the most Sue, but I know without any doubt all the rest pulled up the slack for me. You are a truly great bunch, and I talked about you a lot over the weekend with my little extended family. Sue we are sending you and all your babies (2 & 4 legged) hugs and lots of love! You are an exceptional lady and I’m pretty sure when Romeo was met by the other pugs he had a lot to say about this thing called “Bacon”. All our love, Lilo n Me n Tux.
