BATH?? How often do you give the pugs a bath?? This has been a question i wonder about often since i almost never give my pugs a bath!! Not to mention they dislike it very much!!!

Since I am unable to give my 25 lb. Romeo a bath, he goes to the groomer twice a year for a bath, more if he gets stinky, but twice a year usually does it.  Missy goes in once every 2-3 months for a full groom because she has long hair that gets easily matted and she is afraid of the brush, plus she is much happier with short hair.  Minnie has an immune deficiency which causes huge flakes of skin all over her, so she goes in twice a year for an oatmeal and banana nut bath which is the only thing that takes care of the problem for 6 months.

I’m wondering the same question about bath frequency.  We pretty much are on a whenever-stinky schedule.  But it isn’t very often.  Bennie dislikes it, but he stands stoically for the duration.  He does make sure to have a miserable look on his face the whole time.

C.J. and Toeby get a bath every 2-3 weeks…They just feel so much better when they are clean I think…I’ve never really asked them *giggle*...

Luna, take a long, warm bubble bath soak!  It’ll do you wonders!

Mr. Skittles loves baths… he jumps in the shower whenever he can.  He has tried to share a shower or 2 with our daughter.. that was funny.
The groomer says he loves the blow dryer!!
We are pretty much on a “whenever stinky” schedule for baths..wouldn’t want to dry out his skin.

Glad Luna is doing so well. Just how often do you guys give baths? GiGi loves a bath…if she wants it. If not ready she runs under the bed where I cannit catch her. Grandson bathes her about every three months. She lays on her back on a towel for a good tummie rub and will fall asleep when she can. I brush her often and she dosn’t smell.

Glad Luna stitches came out and everything looks good she looks tuckered out snoozing away maybe she thinks if she is sleeping she won’t have to have a bath I give my pugs a bath about evey three months except Zeke I take him to the groomers to get his nails done so while he is there they give him a oatmeal bath which he loves he goes about once a month his nails grow so fast

We bathe Pen and Lucy every weekend! Since they’re in our laps and on the bed with us we like to keep them pretty clean. I asked a groomer about bathing them so frequently and he told me if it doesn’t cause them to be itchy then it’s just fine. Pen LOVES his bath, jumps in the tub all by himself and will even jump back in when I’m bathing Lucy, who is not so crazy about baths. She does, however love it afterward - when we get her pretty dry we wrap her up in a towel and she sleeps in my lap for as long as I’ll let her. We call it Mommy and Me Time.

Luna - what a pensive little girl you are.  It must feel so good to have the stitches out especially if they’ve started to itch.  You just keep right on healing little one.  You’ve got a fan club out here cheering for you.

Sue VDB - the banana nut and oatmeal bath lasts her for six months?  It must really clear up the problem very well.  My group gets a bath maybe twice a year unless, like Georgie they end up playing in the dirt.

Martha - I know the look you mean!  It’s pretty much a pug trait for their disgruntlement on many issues.

Lucy and Pen - I would wonder, too, at that frequent a bath schedule especially in winter, but it sounds like a fun time with them.  They must just eat up that attention.

hmmmm??? I might have to rethink this whole bath thing out!!! Sounds like mine are lacking in the hygene dept!! I dont worry about it in the summer since they swim….not always because they want to!!! but the winter months i guess they could use a little freshening up!!!

Huckle, Minnie had her first oatmeal and banana nut bath six months ago, and it has lasted that long, which is utterly amazing to me.  All her life Minnie has had extremely flaky skin (the size of a tack head).  She’s had all kinds of medicated baths and treatments and nothing worked.  I told Missy’s groomer about Minnie and she recommened the oatmeal and banana nut.  I took her in and I could not believe the difference, nor the fact it lasted as long.  She just had her second bath this week because the flakes were back, but not quite as large.

Sue VDB - that is amazing that that bath works so well.  It even sounds as if her skin problem just might go away with enough of those baths.  Good Luck!  Is that a packaged bath or one your groomer makes up?  Sounds like you on the right track with it.

We pretty much only bathe as needed, so the frequency varies based on what the pugs are up to.  During the summer when they pugs swim a lot that helps and they generally don’t get bathed as often.  But, if we go to the beach a lot they start to need a bath really quickly.  Or in Luna’s case if she decided to roll in something funky then she gets a bath.  No real set schedule, we just go by the smell of them.  LOL.
