Pug Weather
This last week has me ever so hopeful that pug weather is officially upon us in FL. The mornings and evening have been breezy and cool. Of course, the middle part of the day is still pretty toasty, but the nice weather in the early am and evenings already has put a spring in the pugs's step.
Neither Benjamin nor Luna can walk very far with their back and breathing issues. So, we have been taking all 3 for a little jaunt and then taking Henry on a longer walk by himself. It's sad, because while Henry is itching to go for a walk, he doesn't want to go without Luna and especially not without Benny. Henry is having a hard time understanding that Benjamin, who has been on countless walks with him,can longer match him stride for stride.
Watching the pugs age, and age so differently, has been quite an experience. It has definitely affected us, but I'm surprised how much it has affected Henry. It's hard because I also know that he doesn't understand. Even if we don't want to accept it at least we have an understanding of what is going on. Henry, on the other hand, as smart as he is, doesn't seem to understand why things have changed.

I find it very hard to watch our babies age fiv of my pugs are nine they are still pretty chipper cuddles is 11 and he has trouble walking wants to lay down most of the time my two boxers will be 10 and they are really starting to show there age
It is so hard to watch our pug baby age…..I still tear up thinking about several of my babies that are gone now.. the oldest was four days short of his 18th birthday~ HURK the 1st.
I have a terrible time watching my pugs age. My Nietzsche pug is eleven, and he has breathing issues and arthritis in his hips and his knees. He’s a happy boy, but he just can’t move as easily as he used to. Our younger puppy, Suki, doesn’t understand his limitations. She tries desperately to play with him in ways he just can’t match, and I have to watch her to make sure she backs off when he needs a break. In many ways, I think she’s been good for him, though. He lost his lifelong companion late in 2010, and he was terribly depressed. When we brought Suki home in June of 2012, she breathed new life into him.
Corrine, you are so right about the pugs not understanding why they cannot move around as they used to. At least we humans know what’s going on and can joke about it but I think the pugs have any sense of humor when it comes to the changes. We just have to love them all the more.
get a stroller for ben and luna. it solved my problem when my ougs got older and they loved to ride.
