Happy Gotcha Day, Luna!

Four years ago today we drove to Hollywood, FL and adopted Luna. I can't believe it has been four years. My how time flies.
One thing I can tell you for sure is that Luna has made us laugh a lot in the four years she has been with us. She is a tiny little thing, but she is full of so much spunk that you can't help but laugh. Watching her try to lay down and chew a 12" bully stick or rawhide bone that is taller than she is always gets me. And I never get tired of watching her come up for air from her food bowl with yogurt and pumpkin spread from cheek to cheek.
While we have had Luna for 4 years, we guesstimate that she is about 6 years old. I often think about what the first two years of her life were like. I don't know too much, but the little girl is covered in scars. Scars all over her body and she even has scar tissue built up on her eyes. She has grayed quicker than any of the other pugs and strangers frequently think that she is the oldest of the pack. I imagine the first two years of her life were horrendous, but I try not to think about it too much. After all, Luna doesn't let it get her down. She has a lot of physical reminders of her past, but she is the sweetest pug you will ever meet. I have never met a pug that is as eager to please as her. The first two years of her life may have been hard, but I like to think that the last 1,461 days haven't been too bad.
So to help celebrate her "gotcha day" I have uploaded a few Luna pictures to Flickr. You can view them here or if you prefer you can view them as a slideshow. And you can always read previous Luna posts here.
Happy Gotcha Day, Luna!

Gotcha Day was the very best day of your life sweet Luna. My heart hurts to think how horrible the first two years of your life must have been. BUT, the last 4 years have been pure bliss for such a sweetheart like you, because you have truly hit the jackpot dear little one. Happy Gotcha Day baby.

Have a wonderful Gotcha Day Luna! I enjoyed looking at your beautiful pictures!!!
We can all take a lesson from our loving puggies! They have more forgiveness in their hearts than most of us have in our whole body! Luna is obviously at peace with her past and greatly blessed in her present life…You can look in her eyes and know that she’s happy!
Happy Gotcha Day, little one…You bring such joy to all of us!
Pugs and Kisses from Karen B., C.J. and Toeby
Lily is doing great, her tumor was a mast cell but the pathology showed clear margins, so that was great news! Stitches were out on Monday. She does have a rash we are watching, taking antibiotics and steriods so she has quiet the BIG appetite! We can deal with the hives or rash, piece of cake. Thanks for asking about her, we are so glad to have it all behind us, I’ve been holding my breath for a week, phew. : ) So good to see that little tail curled up again.
Luna never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Tammy, thank you for the update on your little Lily. I have been wondering about her and praying for all of you as well. Glad to hear the news was great.
Thanks so much Sue! I really appreciate the prayers. I know that is what makes all of the difference. Hugs to you from Lily!
Little Luna, you sure do make me smile. I just had a chance to viw the slide show and I must admit to shedding some tears.
Corrine, thank you for sharing your family with us. I consider you all part of my family and love your puggie gang as if they were my own.
Happy Gotcha Day, Luna! I didn’t realize how gray her face had gotten until I looked back at the early pictures. You are a beautiful girl and bring so many smiles to people everywhere!!
Happy Gotcha Day sweet little girl:)
Love the slide show. Some of those shots really show on petite she is! I fostered a little girl, Dovie, and she was about 11 pounds and I called her my little pocket pug…she was so tiny.
Happy, Happy, Happy Gotcha Day to a tremendous little package of joy! Good things really DO come in small packages!
HI Tammy, Glad to hear the surgery went well-We will keep you and Lily in our prayers for quick healing-I have had to take steroids for asthma-so I relate to the appetite thing all too well!!! Keep us posted-pug-hugs form the Colorado 3
I am a bit late, but Luna, you are a masterpiece; a beautiful work of art. Happy Belated Gotcha Day!
