Bowled Over

On Sundays, I make the pugs’ food bowls for the week. With the addition of Sol, I believe we are now up to a total of 84 bowls. Ridiculous, I know. Sure, there are about 100 different ways that we could approach this that would require less bowls. We could put everything in a food processor and make sorta a wet food that we could store and scoop at each meal, I could make the bowls at each mealtime instead of ahead of time, but this method seems to soothe my OCD tendencies the best and is what we have been able to stick with over the years. So, If you ever come over to my house and open the fridge, just know that you will be staring at two shelves worth of dog food bowls. Anything that you may want to eat or drink is on the teeny shelf third from the top.

All I can say is WOW. That is over the top and if it works for you that’s the best way.
Oh My! I envisioned a large container or two and you scoop out of it every day. So this is all measured out and ready to go?
Amazing assembly line… 84 bowls eh? WOW!
WOW is an understatement…but I think that is just so cool…You are one dedicated pug momma…just as it should be!
Bone appetite Benny, Henry, Luna, and Sol!!!!
Wouldn’t it be easier to just get another frig? With a husband a grandson a boston and a pug-well, I do get to keep my coffee creamer in the frig-top shelf-one little corner-what’s wrong with MY picture!?!
I would love to know what type of diet they are on. I noticed the flaxseed, and I know it’s good for a lot of things, especially their joints and allergies. I’ve been looking at changing my Lily’s diet to something better for her and adding flaxseed. She currently eats Bil-Jac dry dog food, with an occasional carrot here and there. If you could email me their diet I would SOOO greatly appreciate it. She has pretty bad allergies and we’re trying to find the best food for her. Thanks so much!
* Tammy - I copied your e-mail and them removed it from the comment to hopefully save you some spam. I may post an updated version of their diet on the blog. Either way I will e-mail you shortly. - Corrine
Since you’re owned by your pugs, of course your kitchen and refrigerator are also owned by your pugs!
Holy Crap on a Cracker! I can’t even figure out a weekly menu plan for ME, and look what you are doing….Makes me realize I’m a loser!
How long does it take you to make all those bowls?!?
I would also like to know what their diet consists of. Molly also has allergies—peanuts and grass of all things! It’d be really nice to get her on a good diet—she seems to have a really sensitive tummy.
I think it’s wonderful how dedicated you are to these little guys and girls.
Amazing! I wish I had the patience. I already feel like I’m preparing a full meal just mixing kibble, broccoli and pumpkin everyday for my 4.
Wee-ow - I thought my 16 bowls for the week was a lot… You’re such a good pug momma!
I can only imagine how many times you have to run the dishwasher a week to keep those babies clean
Holy Chipotle!!
Man, I wish I had the time to do that for my pugs…
haha!!
Once the kid is out of the house..
I dont even prepare OUR food till the night of.. but my dogs always get special treats.. apples and carrots!
I have to show these pictures to my husband. Lucy has four bowls and he thinks I’ve gone overboard. Did you get a special volume discount on all those? Stainless dog bowls aren’t cheap!
I’m speechless. lol
Oh good Lord! I, too, am speechless!
Holy Guacamole, Batman! That’s a lot of bowls!
Wow! Good for you! I agree, sounds like you need a 2nd fridge!
Have you ever thought of storing their food in tupperware containers? Easier to store… when Indy was on her canned food for her UTI thats what I did. Went and bought a stack of small containers and divided it all up for each meal! lol
OHMYGOSH!! That looks like quite the assembly line!! Congratulations on being able to work with this routine week after week, year after year!
YIKES! I know I’d go bonkers!!
..looking forward to your recipe!!
Can I just say wahoo for all the “holy…” comments? Too funny!
Sleighbelle, you’re too funny.
I just found 2 adorable pug valentine day cards, from the brand Avanti. They always have pugs in their collection. Pugs on a card, priceless! And to Sue VDB, I’m funny cause a pug owns me!
Oh My, I thought I was being good because I make Brandy lamb stew every other week, but I cheat and freeze it in ice cube trays so I just need to take out a cube and dinners ready!! I’m not worthy :-(
After looking at the picture, what do you actually feed them? I do mix 100% pumpkin in with the dry food, and have actually found a dry food that works both for stomach & skin allergies, but I am always on the search for new & improved from other pug owners.
Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!
Please share your recipes, being a first time being owned by a pug-I want to keep her healthy and happy! Boston’s have sensitive tummies, too and skin issues and joint issues that might be helped, too. You rock Corrine!!!
that’s awesome
Wow Corrine, lol! That’s 21 bowls per pug. I told my husband if we did the same thing for 6 pugs there will be no room in the fridge plus we need to get an extra fridge, lol! What an amazing mom you are to them.
Hopefully, I will get the recipe posted this week. I posted it a few years back, but things have changed a tad since then, so I will post the current recipe.
I love all the “holy” comments! I would have loved to have been sitting next to everyone to see their reaction when the picture loaded on the screen. I bet your expressions were priceless
Fridge space only seems to be a problem for guests. We manage pretty well between the door space and the drawers. Amanda hit the nail on the head, though. The poor dishwasher never gets a break. If they only made bigger dishwashers we would be set.
