Pugs are talented. My Bugsy can have a hoofy in his mouth and still bark at the neighbor dog. Luna almost looks like she’s going to do a pug howl.

Luna as always you are beautiful no matter what you do. I think the sitter gave you a bit spoonful of peanutbutter and you had a great time slupping it in. Love you baby girl AND your brothers!

Great weekend to all!!! After the aide and OT leave our weekend should be nice and guite. With two people in the house working night jobs most days of the week the girls and I like to stay hidden in our room with a pottie break outside before family goes to bed AND a long outside break when they leave!!!

Have to tell you that yesterday I was watching the dogs on their morning break when a baby deer, very small, came into the yard.When I saw it I got Alex to look. He took an apple out and the little thing grabbed it and headed back up the hill.

Oh, Luna!  Whatever she’s doing, it sure it cute!

Update on Mr. Toeby:  Picked him up at 5:00…He was mad at me…surgery went well, he was still a little out of it…vet says he corrected the palate which was obscured by fat, said they actually had to retract the fat to get to his throat.  He was having a hard time breathing because of his weight…Well, don’t I just feel like a pug mother failure…The vet changed his food and bumped up his dosage of thyroid, said he’d like to see Toeby at around 20 lbs.  That means he has to lose 6.6 lbs!  OMG, I had no idea it was that bad!  He’s on antibiotics and puggy morphine, I even had to sign a paper saying I was over 18 to be able to take the puggy morphine home…When the vet pulled the broken tooth, he said it just kept breaking off and they actually had to basically do a root canal…

Okay, so that’s about it…Gave Toeby his meds this am and he did actually eat breakfast, so I felt good about that…Bottom line?  We are ALL ON A DIET!!!

Hi, me again…Toeby is actually doing well, he walks sideways because of the morphine, it’s funny but it’s not!  He did wake me up at 2:00 this morning and had peed trying to hit the pad, but I guess (because he’s stoned) he missed the pad and flooded the hallway!  He seems very sore and I hated to leave him this am but daddy is home with him til I go to lunch,  Thank you all for asking and sorry I’m going on and on! 

I am sooooo glad it’s Friday, I can’t even begin to tell you how much!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Karen B - oh my, a stoned pugger…*giggle*...SO happy to hear he is back home and surgery went well, although it sounds like both were quite the ordeal!! 

Do *not* feel like a bad pug momma!  I won’t even admit what Mr. Cole weighs, but he *is* built differently than Bax is, or even Riley was.  I swear he’s a pug in a bulldog body.  He doesn’t overeat and, although I do want to get a little weight off of him now that we can get walks in, I’m not going to allow anyone to make me feel bad!  So…moral of the story, you are a wonderful pug momma b/c you saw Toeby was having problems breathing and you got him all taken care of!  I know you will get some pounds off of him in good time.  Give him a kiss from me!!

Thanks Heather for your words of encouragement!  I am hoping that Toeby will be more energetic once he gets some weight off…We have to be really careful not to let them get too overweight cuz then it creates not only breathing problems but their joints will wear out quicker!  Time for the pug-kini diet!

Karen ~  glad to hear Toeby is doing well.
I think when they go to vet and get weighed..it is a big shock ... Mr. Skittles came in at a whopping 34lbs…sooo shocked and mortified…  so, we (vet & I)
discussed options to get the weight down.  So far I got him to 26lbs, and we are still working at it.
I cut out the treats, he gets carrots for treats now, and I still give him a denta bone in the am.
I think we are all guilty of over indulging those cute big round dark eyes, in that lil dark kissy face… need I say more ...pug momma’s love with all their heart xo

Pat, huge congrats on getting that much weight off Mr. Skittles, that is a big accomplishment!

Keeping them fit and trim is of utmost importance, of course!!!  I do think my Cole is fit for his body type, (well almost fit - he will be after our power walks).  Just like humans, puggies come in all different shapes and sizes   My Baxter has been svelte since day 1 and could eat all day every day and not gain a pound.  Ri Ri was the “bigger brother”, even though the little brother, broader and fuller than Bax.  Then came along Mr. Cole, the biggest brother of all, my linebacker, although the youngest/littlest brother of the pack.  Love that they are all individuals and love every inch of their wrinkley-selves.  lol

Karen, puggy morphine and all, I’m sure Toeby is glad to be back home in the loving care of his mom and dad. Poor baby had quite an ordeal, but it always amazes me how fast they return to normal. 

I’ve got Romeo on a diet because he weighed in at 26.6 the last vet visit.  I give him a spoonful of no salt added green beans at night as a filler…very low in calories, but he seems more satisfied after that.

I will definitely give him some carrots and he loves green beans…I’ll just have to give them to him BEFORE the butter goes on!  LOL

I think that Luna looks like a vocalist warming up and singing scales!  By any chance has she joined the choir at pug school?

What on earth is can Luna be doing?:) How funny whatever it is. What a great picture.  Although she does look about to howl, I’m wondering if she isn’t holding her tongue ready for a piercing.  How about a diamond on her tongue?

Hellen - what an experience with the baby deer.  I would not of thought anyone could do that.

Karen - remember Georgie and his stash?  He would be able to help the ‘morphine pug’ because he went cold turkey with his stash and knows how hard it was.  So glad to hear the update.

Good morning, happy Monday!

Toeby continues to improve, he’s done with his “drugs” so he’s walking normally and is able to pee with his leg up!  LOL!  We went for a walk last nite and he did really well with his breathing…Toeby and C.J. got green beans last nite for treat instead of Cheerios!  So yay!  Everything’s good!  Hope all the other pugs out there are doing well!
