Benny’s New Life Jacket
The last time that we took the pugs canoeing, Benny’s life jacket pretty much fell apart while we were there. Since Benny isn’t much of a swimmer we didn’t replace his vest until this weekend. We have been thinking about taking the pugs on another early morning canoe outing and we wanted Benny to have a new life jacket to have on the boat with us.
We also made him test it out in the pool on Sunday. Gotta make sure it works, Benny!

BTW, guess y’all know how brazen I am by now, lol, but Petco has a photo contest for their 2009 calendar. I found out late, but entered the guy’s pic. Would love to order one for C.J. and Toeby but the smalls are currently out of stock. Will there be more coming? My guys need this cuz they both sink like rocks if I’m not right there to “save” them!!

how cool is Benny, I haven’t seen any life jackets for dogs around here. But will keep my eyes open on our shopping excursions!

That would be great, OBP! I will feel much better with my guys around the pool and they will probably be a little more confident also!
Maybe it is a difference in climate but, I find that when Bo is wearing his (we go on day long floats twice a supper) he seems to over heat. So I am stuck with the quandary of do I leave it on or do I take it off so he won’t be too hot?
I will admit that I usually let him out of it since I know we usually have 15-20 people in our group and they adore him so they would do anything to help him out if there was trouble and he is surprisingly a rather strong swimmer (I think it stems from his hate of the water - get out now!)
Does anyone else worry about that or have a similar situation?
Good question Liz! OBP, do we need to worry about overheating in this style of jacket? I wondered about that. Seems like it would be like wearing a blanket over the back for the little guys.

I find that if Benjamin, Henry & Luna are not swimming the life jackets make them hot as well. We have taken them canoeing and while we have them in the boat we don’t make them wear them because they would get too hot. However, whenever we let them in the water, like when we go to the beach or when they go in the pool they wear them. Being in the water keeps them cool and I haven’t had a problem with them getting too hot as long as they are swimming. Once they are out of the water we take the vests off to keep them cool.
aww that is so cute i have a pug and when we went to the lake we got her a bright yellow life jacket and she luved it!!!
