Take a few pugs, add in a dash of cold weather and BOOM! Instant snuggle buddies.

If you asked the boys, they would say that this weekend's weather was perfect pug weather. If you ask the former Miami pug, she would tell you that it was way too cold for her liking the past two days.
On Saturday, we took the pugs to one of our favorite parks and when it is hot out we can barely get one lap around the lake in. But, since it was so cool outside, the pugs were eager to go for two laps.
On Sunday, we went to another park and got in another long walk. It was a bit earlier in the day, so Luna sported a red hoodie to keep warm. About halfway through the walk, Luna warmed up enough and was able to shed her jacket.
Later on Sunday evening it was blanket and couch time. All 3 of the pugs could agree that sofa, pillow and blanket time was super cozy.

With the hot weather here in FL, the barking out the door business at all who pass has been kinda slow for the pugs. Usually, there is a steady stream of walkers, bikers and dogs in the evenings that pass by the house. But, most of the people usually out and about have been opting for cooler temperatures indoors. Which means the pugs have more time in between barks to rest their heads. And that is a very dangerous thing, because before you know it the barking has been replaced by snoring. And then, people are passing by the house without being barked at. Which leads the diehard walkers, willing to brave the insane humidity, to ask me when they see me out, "Where are those pugs?" And what can I say? "Uh...they fell asleep waiting for you."

We try to get the pugs out for a walk each night in the summer, but sometimes it is so hot that we don't make it past the front yard. Instead, we just hang out around the house so we don't have too far to go to get back in the AC.
But, on nights when we can actually get a little walk in, the pugs are giddy with excitement. They love their walkies.

The weather is so lovely that when I go from the nice conditioned air in the house outside to take pictures my camera lens fogs up. As far as I'm concerned, October can't get her soon enough.

I offer you proof of how hot and dry it has been in FL the last few days. It has been so bad that the cat has succumbed to drinking out of the dogs' water bowl.
Cupid has her own water bowl that is out of the pugs' reach. However, she never drinks from it. I change it daily and everyday I shake my head and wonder why we even bother putting out a water bowl just for her because she never drinks from it.
But, even though Cupid ignores her bowl of water, she never drinks from the pugs' water bowl either. You know, she can't risk the dog germs and all that. Instead, she prefers to return to her roots and forage for her water supply. She will sneak a little water from the sink and from time to time I have caught her drinking out of the pool. Something I try to discourage, but let's face it, Cupid has a mind of her own and isn't one for following directions.
But, the other day, when we were sitting down to breakfast, the cat strolled right up to the dogs' water bowl and started lapping up the fresh water. It was such an unusual sight that everyone, including the pugs, stopped and stared. My first reaction was to get a picture, but I didn't have my camera handy. But, lucky for me, Cupid came back to her new watering hole the same time the next morning and I was able to snap a picture with my phone.
As you can seen from the look on Henry's face, everyone is surprised that Cupid now drinks DOG water.

The last few days have been extremely hot and that means the pugs have been checking in on the outside world from the comfort of the couch in the air conditioned house. Barking at all that pass seems to be quite fun for them. Of course, I would prefer if they brought the barking down a notch, but they have to fill their days with something, I guess.
Luna prefers to spy on the outside world from ground level. I caught a shot of her in mid bark. I just love how her normally bulging eyes are extra bulgy in the photo. Get 'em girl!

I think if the cat deems the grass dry enough for her delicate paws, then the yard should be considered in adequate condition for the pugs as well. You hear that Luna. I'm talking to you. And Benny, I'm looking your way too.
Yesterday, when I took the pugs out to go potty in the backyard before dinner, I looked around and I had Henry, Sol & the cat in the yard with me. Luna & Benjamin were taking cover and it wasn't even raining. It had stopped raining about an hour before we went out. Why was the cat out in the yard with us? She wasn't there to go potty. She was there to supervise. Because the speed of the pugs' potty activities also affects whether or not her dinner makes it to the bowl in a timely fashion.

It seems like every time we talk to G-Ma & G-Pa lately they are expecting snow in Maryland. They got a little bit of snow earlier this week and they are expecting a lot more at the end of the week.
All this talk of snow got me thinking about the boys and their romps in the white stuff. Most of their snow pictures are from when they were puppies and believe it or not I did not have a digital camera back then. So, I went digging through all of our photo albums and found these pictures of the boys out and about in the snow.
I think it is pretty cool because these pictures are from one of the biggest snow storms on record for Baltimore. Between Februrary 15-18, 2003, 28.2" of snow fell. The link shows this storm as the biggest storm in MD history, but I know they beat that mark in December 2009. But the page above hasn't been updated since 2005. In any case 28.2" is a lot of snow. I remember how the boys thought it was fun at first, but then just how quickly they got tired of it. After a certain point, they couldn't go anywhere unless a path was cleared because the snow was just too high.

To give you an idea of how cold it was during our recent cold snap, here is a shot of Cupid trying to keep herself warm under a blanket on the couch. Now, the odd part isn't that Cupid is snuggling under the blanket, but that she dares to share the couch with Benny. Benny, by far, is her least favorite pug and the fact that she would even consider laying so close to him shows exactly how cold it was here. I think the expression is something like "when hell freezes over". Well, hell may not have froze, but Florida sure did.
