The pugs had some fun with bubbles this past weekend. Luna was quite fascinated with them and had the most pop right on her nose because she kept trying to smell them.
Henry didn't seem too enthused by the bubbles. He was more interested in the wand instead.
And Benny, true to form, was terrified of them. Exhibit A below.

Saturday morning, before it got too hot for the pugs, we took them to a nearby school to have some fun on the playground. The boys absolutely love going down the slide. Many people have asked if the boys do this all on their own. I always answer yes, but I thought a picture would be more fun. Here is a shot of Benny getting ready to head down the slide and Henry climbing up the stairs on his way to do the same thing.
And here is one of Benny getting ready to stick the landing.
Luna is not a fan of the slide or climbing up on the jungle gym. This is where her vision troubles really slow her down. Instead she waits for the boys and gives them a good chase once they are back on the ground

A week or two ago we were in Walmart making a quick stop to get milk, when we saw this cute baby toy hanging from an end cap in the baby section. It immediately reminded us of Luna so we plucked it off the display strip and made a mad dash to the checkout with our milk.
We only ever buy stuffed toys for Luna anymore. We used to bring home a stuffed toy for each one of them and the boys would take theirs hold it on their mouth for a second and then drop it and look at us like, "What did you bring me that is edible?"
Luna, on the other hand, still gets excited to get a stuffed toy and plays with them the most. The boys are happy to play with one from the bin from time to time.
The little girl mermaid toy reminded us of Luna because she loves kids. I don't know why, but she just about pulls herself out of her harness if she sees a child when we are out on a walk. She sure as heck didn't get that from me. So, we thought the little girl mermaid with its little pony tails would be a fun toy for her.
Luna was very happy to get her new toy and played with it the entire night. The next day, I noticed the boys were hanging out with the mermaid. At first, they were trying to play it all cool, like, "Well, Luna just left it on the pillow and we just wanted to sit here, ya know?"
But, then I spied Henry playing with it and then just sitting there like this, which I found to be a little disrespectful. Have some manners, Hank!
An then later that day I saw this:
To which Benny replied, "That will teach her to take my puffy!"

We kicked off Henry's birthday with a trip to the beach, but this wasn't any ordinary trip to the beach. The pugs were going to the beach to meet longtime blog reader Jennifer and her Mom, Mary. It was so great meeting them both and the pugs simply loved them. Not only were they so very nice, they also had great petting hands and they brought a little Easter basket for the pugs. Here is a shot of Luna with Jennifer with Luna doing her very own Easter Bunny impersonation.

Henry was definitely on cloud nine as he got to take about a 20 minute car ride to the beach, then a short walk to the actual beach and then there was water, sand, dogs, people and lots of petting. An ideal day for him.
In addition to meeting Jennifer & Mary the pugs also met a little turtle that was hanging out on the beach.

And look at little Miss Luna. It looks like she is enjoying her brother's birthday fun too.

We spent a few hours on the beach and by the time we got back to the truck, the pugs were wiped out. We got them buckled into the car, gave them a little treat from their Easter basket and before we knew it the car was filled with a chorus of pug snoring.
When we got back home, we brushed all the sand that the pugs decided to bring home with them out of their coats and then the left the pugs to get a little nap. Later that night, it was ice cream, chewing and more snoring. I think their little beach adventure tuckered them out!
A big thank you to Jennifer & Mary for meeting us and snapping so many pictures. Thanks to them I could take a day off from being behind the camera

For one week, and one week only, I have a 6 year old pug (Luna), a seven year old pug (Henry) and an 8 year old pug (Benjamin). Then Henry will join his brother and officially become a senior pug. Can you believe the boys are considered seniors now? I sure can't!

On Saturday we had a lot of fun spoiling our new 8 year old. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the day got off to a slow start so we spent some time outside, in the yard, soaking up the sun and enjoying the weather.
After that I took Benny on a little walk all by himself. I think he really liked that. He loves to walk with the others, but sometimes I think they all enjoy getting to go out by themselves.
Later that day, Benny took a little nap while we went out and hunted for his favorite bone. For some reason, we haven't been able to find them recently. After a couple of stops we finally found them and bought all they had so Benny would have a little stockpile.
We debated on what to have for dinner but then settled on pizza because pizza crust is pretty high up on Benny's favorite treats list. He seemed to like his pizza crust and after about an hour we gave him his favorite peanut butter bone that he hasn't had in about 6 months or more (Henry & Luna also got a peanut butter bone to chew). This made him really excited and he chewed for the rest of the night.
Needless to say, by about 10 PM we had one tired pug on our hands.

Today Benjamin turns 8 years old and we realized that there are conveniently 8 letters in Benny's name. So what could be more fitting than a look back at Baby Benny over the years using each letter of his name.
B for Baby: He will always be our Baby Benny.
E for Eats Everything: It's year 2 and Benjamin is still very fond of mulch, rocks and lots of other things that are not good for him.
N for Never Ending Energy: In year 3 we thought some of Benny's puppy energy would have faded by now, but he is still going strong.
J for Just Curious: In year 4 Benny finally started to calm down a bit but he was still curious about everything.
A for Awesome: Sure Benny has always been awesome, but by the time he was 5 he blossomed into his quirky, lovable self.
M for Mr. Manner: At 6 years old, Benjamin became quite the mannerly gentleman. Not sure how it happened, but I'll take it.
I for In Love with Puffy: Even after 7 years Benny is still inseparable from his puffy.
N for Next Adventure: At 8 Benny is ready for his next adventure.

We had the carpets cleaned last week and had to move the pugs' crates out of their little room. The crates took temporary residence in the bathroom and the pugs felt compelled to all pile in one while I was getting ready that day. Surprisingly, no one asked to go in the crate on top. Benjamin didn't stay long because he felt like Henry & Luna were hogging all the crate space.
And by the way, Luna got another "How old is that one?" comment last night on our walk. After this week's blog post I couldn't help but laugh and I though you guys might get a chuckle out of it.
Enjoy the weekend!
