Why Do You Love Pugs?

Why I love pugs

I am most definitely an animal lover.  I have always had an animal in my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I took my kitten Kirk, to show-and-tell in first grade and he was still helping me do my homework when I was in college.  You can definitely call me a dog lover, but I have always loved the pug breed the most.  Why?  I’m not really sure.  I thought about it the other day and here is why I love being owned by pugs.

  • Their sense of humor:  A good sense of humor is important to me and I think pugs have a sense of humor.  They are not serious dogs and they are able to clown it up better than most dogs out there.  They make me laugh and in my book that goes along way.
  • Multum in Parvo: A lot in a little.  I like that pugs are small enough to pick up and sit on your lap, but tough enough to romp and stomp with you in the backyard or to hold their own at the dog park.  They are in the toy group, but I think they have a lot of traits of big dogs.  To me it is like owning a big dog in a little dog body.  All the benefits will a little less drool.
  • Companionship:  I can not think of a better companion dog.  Benjamin, Henry & Luna have been by my side from the moment I have brought each of them home.  I like that they are people dogs and that they always want to be in the mix.
  • Outgoing: I like that pugs are outgoing and eager to meet other dogs and people.  This at time can be hard, say when you have company over and they get a little over zealous, but I still wouldn’t change it.

What about you?  Why do you love pugs?

Oh this will take me quite a while to compile…I don’t know that there is enough space to capture all of my feelings on this one!

Loyalty would have to be one, Bax may get excited about other people and sit on there lap, but in the end he ends up on mine. Definitly love all the pug noises, even if he snots in my face! Bax definitly makes me laugh, especially when he gets the zooms and rums around the table 10 times! Those are just a few reasons why I love pugs!

Well, I had never even thought of owning a pug or anykind of house dog. But about 5 yrs
ago my daughter told me of a little pug that needed a good home. I wasnt too impressed until I said something to Genevieve and
she cocked her head at me just like she was listening to what I was saying. Needless to say, I fell in love. She is a pretty little dainty fawn pug and reminds me some of Luna.
About a year later we were given Luke, a black pug. He is just adorable. They are so cute together. She is hyper and a busy little thing. Luke is so laid back. They are so entertaining, just makes me laugh at
their cuteness. Needless to say, I will never be without a pug (or two) in my life.

I love pugs for so many reasons.  Their cute little faces are irresistible.  I just want to grab ‘em and hug ‘em and kiss ‘em whenerer they’re near.  Speaking of near,  they’re always near.  There’s nothing like a warm fuzzy pug body either sitting on me or cuddled up against me on the sofa. Pugs make me laugh when I don’t feel like laughing and they get me through the sad days when things look somewhat gloomy - I just can’t help cracking up at their adorable antics. I love pugs because they drown out my husband’s obnoxious snoring and their’s, at least, lulls me to sleep!  But most of all, I love pugs, because pugs love me!

Pugs make everybody smile!  My pug can’t walk down the street without making at least 5 people smile.  My pug is silly, funny, smart, cuddly and cute.  He’s also sneaky, but always in a comical way.  The way pugs tilt their heads is simply adorable.  I love the way they strut and gallop around.  I love the little wiggle of my pug’s curly tail and the way he follows humans from room to room.  You can’t be sad or lonely for too long with a pug around!

I love pugs because :
They have soulful eyes
They snort and make silly noises
They look at you and try to really understand you and with enough time and effort - THEY DO!
They know when you are blue (and will stay with you until they make you smile!)
They know when you are happy (and like to share it!)
They want to make you laugh (but not AT them - with them - my old guy gets embarrassed and upset if you laugh at him…)
They like to cuddle
Their curly tails!!!!!
That smushed in face!!! (Side profile just kills me)
They are smarter than the average human
They are BEYOND loyal
They feel and think
They boss you around and keep you grounded
They just want love and to give love
God I could go on and on!!
My fiance always preferred “manly” big dogs…now he’s head over heals for the pug!!! He is and always was very loving and caring to my old guy (Benee) but he says with the rescue Frankie “There’s just something about this little guy - I feel like I have to protect him” - The two of them are inseparable and every night it’s them cuddling on the couch! LOL!
PUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS RULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

My husband and I love pugs but we are allergic.  Our solution is to take meds and go to pug sunday once a month.  We need to get our pug love in.  The number one thing I love about pugs is they never meet anyone they don’t like.  When they see us they come running over and jump on us.  They have such love and compassion.  They are smart and know just how to get their way, all the time.  One head tilt and you are spellbound.  They are rough tuff cream puffs who like to play.  The cuteness factor is there as well, the face, eyes and curly tail do me in.  As my husband is fond of saying “I love those little dogs”

I love Pugs…Let me count the ways…

My Baxter and Riley…the loves of my life.

They lick my tears when I am sad…
They make me laugh when no one or nothing else can…
They know the value of coziness…
Their kisses heal all…
Those eyes…oh those eyes…
Their snores are the lullabys of my nights…
Their snorts are the soundtracks of my days…
Those little wiggly curly Q’s…
Their unconditional love is the only, except from one other person, I’ve ever received in my life…
They make my heart feel full…

Angel is really loving and I feel so lucky that she loves us (her 2 mommies) so much, considering pugs are people-loving dogs and have such outgoing personalities. Company is fun, but I truly believe she loves and prefers our company more. Angel is really stubborn and while that can be annoying, it’s also really cute. She acts a lot like a 2-year old sometimes—like just the other day she hid from us behind the sofa, but of course we saw her and when she realized that we were watching her she bolted in the other direction!

I like how she looks us right in the eyes.  Not a form of agression, but looks right at us like a person would.  And they have the best facial expressions.  Ruby perses her lips, tisks, does this rude yawn when she wants something and you are making her wait.

She bullies us with her toys, and I have never met ANYTHING that seems so happy to see a person when they come in.  I get such an enthusiastic greeting just coming out of the bathroom that it is hard to imagine anything less.

Pugs are “all in” no matter what you are doing.  Playing, eating, sleeping, they do it with their entire being.  They have opinions.  They have routines and habits and preferences and fetishes.  Basically they have more personality than any other kind of dog I have met.

The first pug I ever knew was Norman, my son and daughter-in-laws pug.  We met the first night they got him as a puppy, and I just loved everything about him.  I still do!  My husband called him the “happiest damn dog”, which is a wonderful quality that all pugs share.  Normie always made me so happy whenever he was around, that it was inevitable for me to want my own pug, and then Bennie came into my life.  And like everybody else, I appreciate the love and joy he brings into our life and home.  Plus I love his cute little face, expressions, ears, and curly tail.  Also his rough and tumble playfulness followed by cuddling on the couch. Everything is good about pugs smile

Why do I love my pug, Kami sue?

So many reasons why…

1. When she was a year old I rescued her from some bad people who shouldn’t have pets at all. That was the time she lost her right eye from a cyst. When I looked at her I knew she belonged to me. They say that pets resemble their owners, right? I prefer pets resemble their parents and she looks like me.

2. I can’t go a night without hearing her snore. The snoring is a weird but soothing noise that lets me know that she is still with me through thick and thin.

3. Her feisty attitude is to die for. When she is ill, she is ill. But when she’s feeling good she lets it all out and her little bitty tail just goes round and round with her.

4. When I am sad, she snuggles and licks my hand to let me know that tomorrow is another day and that the day prior is nearing a end.

5. How can you not love that nose and face?? I mean seriously her 13 lb petite face and body wears her clothes so well that all other dogs are jealous (I sound egotistical I know.)

6. Even though she doesn’t like giving smooches often, the times that she does can and does makes anyones heart soar.

7. Proud to call her my daughter!

The Reason I love my Pug:
I grow up with pugs; then left home and had nothing but outside dogs now that I am in my late 40’s, kids all gone I wanted a lap dog that would just sit on my lap. I found a female who had puppies but because of them she had a nervous break so I brought her from the breeder brought her home and she is now 4 years old and the best lap dog a girl could ask for. My husband wanted a english bull dog so we got one for him and my Miss Pib has been the best mom to the bulldog since she has come into our home. I was not sure of how she would be with her but she prove to be the best girl out there.  I love my pug Miss Pib unconditionally.

I have never had a dog before maddie, my 6 month old pug. Besides my girlfriend, she is the love of my life. She gives me unconditional love, and is so happy to see me in the morning and after work. She is better than any medication. When she starts kissing you and lays on your feet to go to sleep or cuddles you, it is the best feeling in the world. I would have to have a whole page to say all of the things I love about pugs. They are the best, and what personalities. She is our shadow all day long and is just such a joy.

I just found your blog about 3 days ago and have worked my way backwards since then.  I love pugs and always have since I was a child and my father brought one home for my brother.  I was devastated because I wanted “Bandit” to be mine and mine alone.  It ended up that he was mine and along came “Sena” who was mine and mine alone.  She was the runt and that’s why I picked her.  I think I was 9 or ten.  They bred and I was there for the birth and helped her deliver her brood.  Since that moment of Bandit’s arrival I have been smitten.  I am now 37 and pugs are it for me.  There will never be another quite like pug.  The wrinkles, the eyes, the tail, the fur, the pug-run, the attachment, the following from room to room, the snoring, the snorting, the snotting, the shedding, the love, the adorement, the farting, the anal leakage lol, everything about the breed.  They are my true love.  I adore pug and my biggest dream is to have a farm and about 10 pugs on it!  I love this site and have become your biggest fan in about 1 day!

My Harley is my best friend. She is my shadow, the protector of my feet at night, and her sweet pug kisses are my morning wake up call. Her smiles are contagious and she never fails to brighten the day. Harley is a dog’s dog and a people’s dog. Even when a Rottweiler is barking at her from the other side of the fence, she still stands her ground and looks at them with nothing but curiosity and a friendly wagging of her tail. She sets the example at the vet with her friendliness. I think it’s a characteristic of pugs to be full of love. My Harley is truly unique, but she is a pug, and I thank the breed for her sweet and spunky personality.

I love Pugs because they have so much love in their soul. They are a blessing from Heaven.  They are always egger to make their owner happy.  They are a quiet dog.  They do not bark for hours on end.  They are easy to potty train and you give them an ounce of love and they’ll always give you a pound of love back.  They also so much fun to be around.  They are very playful and very friendly.  My female Pug is part of my family now and always will be.
