Veterans Day
Veterans were Sol's favorite type of people. It seems like every time we visited a park, Solsey found a veteran to sit with and coax into petting her.
So, be like Solsey today and hug a veteran.

Precious Sol knew how to dish out the attention to the deserving that’s for sure. Wish I could kiss her face! Happy Veteran’s and Rememberance Days to all. Love and give thanks just like Sol!
Sweet Solsey~ I’m sure you didn’t have to coax too hard smart girl you are!
Happy Veteran’s Day and Remembrance Day to all. And thank you to all for their service. It is much appreciated!
Pug Hugs to all from Gina & (as of now) a non diabetic Pip!
That’s our girl! Oh, how we love you still Solsey Baby. You picked the best people to focus attention on.
Huckle &
the Swamp Pugs
For the second week in a row, I have awakened with a fat lip. Really. It’s a mystery as to how and even more important, why? It wasn’t my husband, he wouldn’t dare, so that leaves one of the pugs. The first time it happened, I thought ‘how odd’. The second time it happened, I thought “oh, oh now this is getting weird.” Same side of my mouth, same kind of injury inside my mouth as well. I can’t wait for next week! Guess the next step is to get a video cam and film while sleeping. Or, like Gracie, sleep with my eyes open.
Gina, YAY YAY YAY. I just saw your update about Pip. This is just fabulous news! All systems GO, yay Pip!
Please give him a big smooch of congratulations from me!!!
Huckle, I think a video camera is what is needed. The results might be interesting. I know I’m curious.
Anytime I see a picture of sweet Solsey, it brings a smile to my face. In honor of her I will hug a vet, and I aspire to be like Sol in more ways than one : )
what a beautiful picture of precious Sol I sure miss her hope everyone has a terriffic weekend
Gina, hooray for Pip, and you. Does this mean it was just a misdiagnosis? What you and Pip have gone through for no reason if so. What is the explanation, did they give you one? What a great day for you two. You know, we are so happy for you two, plus Gina, you’ve learned a new skill. Perhaps you could go around vaccinating pugs now!
Solsey looks just like a proud veteran, herself! And her pictures still bring tears for us, don’t they? But that’s OK. She was a special girl and should be missed and remembered - just like all those vets who are with us today and those who (like Solsey) still will be remembered. A proud Canadian Remembrance Day also.
So happy, GINA, to hear your good news re: the Pipster!!! And I would also like to see who your nocturnal pugilist might be. Bella sleeps with her head down from me - which means her behind is towards my face. I try to start out sleeping with my back to her because 1) Don’t care to be awakened (or not) by her nighttime emissions and 2) She kicks her hind legs out with a lot of force and gusto when rearranging herself for more comfortable sleeping. The force of those little muscular leg-thrusts would probably knock out a tooth if it connected with my mouth - not to mention giving me a fat lip. I also like having her little pug butt at my back for the warmth it gives off.
The nockturnal puncher comment was directed to HUCKLE. Sorry - bad proof before sending.
Oh dear Sol you bring tears to the eyes and peace to the heart just like the many who served and serve may you all have a blessed veterans/remembrance day. Yeah Pip-glad for good news. Pug hugs to all from the Colorado 4
More tears fo today…but remembering those we lost in wars buried on shores so far away has started me crying…again.
Sol was such a joy to all of us the short time she was with us. She is one reason I want a black female pug so much.
To those who served so well for us to be free God Bless. For those who never come home..tears of sadness for your families.
Grannie Pug
Please pray for our family we are going through a very hard time right now.
You know, Mary, that sleeping behavior of Bella’s is exactly they way Abby sleeps…butt in face, I turn to my side and she sidles up to my back and on the rare occasion when she isn’t there, I can’t fall asleep. Now that leg thrust idea might be what happens for the fat lip. In that case, it would be one of the black ones because I am facing them. But I just know it couldn’t be sweet little Georgie. He just isn’t capable. So that leaves Gracie as the culprit.
Hello everyone! I love hearing how all the pugs sleep the same including Pip! He likes to be against my tummy or upper legs. So adorable!
Ok…didn’t want to update until the second blood check today but….Pip still has diabetes. I’m so confused. Huckle to address your misdiagnoses….I thought so too! But I guess he had so much insulin in him that not getting it allowed his body to get to where it should be. If that makes sense. The whole number thing has me confused. But that isn’t hard to do.
So after this mornings blood check, he needed 3 units instead of 5. Then checked again tonight and he only needed 4 units. They say it’s the same with humans too. You have to adjust a lot in the beginning to get it right. And he is back up to 20 pounds. Which is good. I want to keep it right there.
But it could mean that the pancreas really is healing and thats why the numbers are out of whack. I just need to watch him closely and listen to my pug mommy instincts!
Hellen ~ Still praying for you and your family my dear. And everyone here on OBP!
Pug Hugs to everyone!
Remembrance and Veteran’s Day, what a great picture of Solsey to honour them.
Huckle, I too have fallen victim to the pug assault during the night. The worst was when Lilo liked to chew before she fell asleep, it was like her pacifier i think. She would take her little chewstick and close her eyes and just gnaw on it. Well she came up walking towards me in the dark with it in her mouth and got me right in the eye, scratching my cornea.
She usually starts out at the end of the bed, then moves up to lay on my body pillow up against my tummy, head on my leg, butt to my face, and I have also gotten the old boot in the gut with her back legs stretching out. Thank goodness she is not a gassy girl or we would have an issue! Once she gets cold though she walks up to my pillow and paws at the blankets to get under and back onto the body pillow.
Gina, your vet is absolutely right about the humans being the same. Sometimes if the pancreas is still working it makes getting the amount of insulin dose a challenge. You are right to listen to your instincts and are a great mom to Pip!
Will continue to pray for Pip’s pancreas to pick it up and get back to normal, as well as prayers for you Hellen and your family. May you get all that you need to get through these trials.
Love to all, Lilo n me
Gina, it takes time to get things regulated. It’s like trial and error in some ways. I am still praying that when Pip’s pancreatis is completely healed, the diabetes will disappear also.
Thank you Lilo and Sue VDB ~ I’m just keeping an eagle eye on Pip. I love my vet and there are three vets in on Pip’s care so I will call the first time I think something is ‘off’ with him.
Thanks again girls!
Gina, I don’t know whether to be happy or sad for Pip. He must be some little trouper to let this stuff all go around him with the tests and vets, etc. But then, he does have his bond with you and your love and guidance to get him through this.
Grannie Pug, there is much prayer and positives around to help you through the bad times. I pray it will be a short time.
I love this picture of Solsey. What a little LOVE! I did hug a Vet (Veteran’s Day) just for you. I am sure the Vets ENJOYED and LOVED YOU as much as YOU DID THEM.

Oh Solsey Baby, you still bring leaky eyes. Interacting with a vet sounds just like you sweetheart. Happy Veterans Day, and Happy Rememberance Day to our Canadian friends.
