Tree Trimming

Benjamin and Henry

While Luna was in charge of supervising present wrapping, Benjamin and Henry had the task of monitoring the tree trimming. They were only semi interested in the decorating part, but as soon as the tree was trimmed they wanted to know where their presents were. Patience pugs, patience.

Beautiful tree flanked by two gorgeous pugs. That is one big tree to decorate.

Pug mama, hope and pray Abby is doing better.

Huckle, how is your crew?

Gina, how are you?

Romeo had an episode early Saturday morning and I thought he was going to have to be at the vet’s first thing, but he settled down again and seems to be doing fine painwise.  Now he is dealing with constipation and the strain can’t be good on his back.  I am feeding him pure pumpkin to see if it helps.  He has two more treatments this afternoon, and I will see what Dr. Rowe has to say about that. Someone on Pug Prayerz (facebook) suggested I ask about a pain patch, which I have to do more research on, but it could be better than all the pills. As far as keeping him calm…  Meal time is impossible.  I can’t fix his food while he is outside because I have to be with him.  I even thought about temporarily crating him while fixing his food, but he would be in a frenzie trying to get out to the food.  Nothing seems to work with his boy.

Are you going to tell me that Cupid doesn’t climb the tree to try to get to the shelf above?  If not, she better turn her cat badge in.

The tree is supurb but I want to know what is in the presents underneath.  Why aren’t the pugs tearing them apart?

Sue VDB, let us know ASAP what is going on with Romeo and how the vet says he’s doing especially in regard to the pain part.  That poor little guy.  Being frantically hungry has to be a good sign of sorts, doesn’t it?

Sue, I hope Romeo’s improvement after Saturday morning is permanent!  Poor little guy.  I think the pumpkin sounds like a good thing to try, and hope it works.

You did well supervising the tree trimming, Henry and Ben, now comes the hard part!  Waiting til Santa Claws comes by to bring you your presents!!!

Abby is hanging in there, she is not in distress just at rest now, so that is an improvement, but walking and going outside into the cold air get her coughing going still, and it is still the same harsh scary coughing.  We’re doing a phone check in with the vet this afternoon, so I think I will say she is going in the right direction, but no where near out of the woods yet.  Thanks for all the prayers OBP’s followers smile

Gorgeous tree. Like everyone is saying, great job Henry and Benny! You too look fabulous!

Sue VDB ~ I wish I could think of something to keep Romeo calm while you are getting his food ready. Please let us know how everything goes this afternoon. See if your vet has any suggestions regarding keeping him calm.

Huckle ~ How are your babies doing?

Pug Mama ~ Sorry that Abby is still coughing. Still praying for her and you. Tell us how the phone check in goes.

Heather ~ Can you open a facebook account? It’s really fun. That way we could see you and your baby!

We’ve been looking for a pug this weekend. I didn’t think I would be ready this soon but I am. No luck. I know the right one will come along though.

Pug Hugs to you all!

Georgie will not cough as long as he is on the antibiotic.  When he does cough though, my skin gets all prickly cold.  But an occasional prayer wouldn’t hurt.

The rest of the gang are fine.  I’m not talking about Cooper.  Abby continues to butt Georgie or Gracie off of my lap.  She won’t look at me when she does it but pretends to be far, far away.  I am amazed at the strength of her little fanny’s manueverings.  Gracie continues to pee on Abby.  Thanks for asking Sue VDB and Gina.  Gina, good luck on the precious puggie search.  Still thinking about you.

Heather, if I can figure out Facebook (and I sorta do) then it should be a breeze for you.  I also read articles to help me figure it out.  I also inadvertently opened two separate Facebook accounts at different times and don’t know how, or if I can, reduce it to just one without losing information.

Sue VDB, I think it’s been mentioned before but do you think Glucosamin might help.  Hey, Rescue Remedy…you could order a gallon or so to calm him. smile

Pug mama, is Georgie on antibiotics?  For some reason, that almost totally erases the cough.  He’s on another drug as well but that seemed to not keep the cough at bay until the antibiotic was given.

Corrine, your blurb was so funny.  Meant to mention that before.

Gina,  over the years, I have lost 4 pugs either due to old age or cancer.  My last pug, Milo, was loaded with cancer and we chose to have the Vet put him down.  The only thing that helped the grief was another pug.  We found Toby a month later who was 11 months at the time and he is my baby now.

Thank you Marcia ~ I’m beginning to think thats exactly what I need. Another pug baby to love. smile Thank you!

Gina, Have you considered looking at the Pug Rescue in your area?

Huckle, Abby is on 10 days of doxycycline, in the past she has gotten clavimox, but this time the vet wanted to treat her as the vet school had treated her when she had her worst episode nearly 3 years ago.  So Doxy it is.

Phone check in went good.  We’re going down to steroids once daily now, and keeping everything else as is.  Going to check in at the end of the week or sooner if necessary.

Marcia ~ We have definitely! There are no puppies but there is one we are considering. She is 7 years old and a fawn and her name is Emma. She looks wonderful so if the puppy thing doesn’t work out, we are going to fill out an application for her. smile

Pug Mama ~ Extra prayers for Abby. I hope going down to one steroid still helps her. God Bless.

My baby will be here in late January. Can hardly wait but she has babies to care for. Kari is flying down in late January to bring her to her forever home.

Romeo’s visit to the vet acupunturist went great.  The push, poke, prod exam went well.  Romeo did not flinch once and Dr. Rowe said he was more relaxed and in better shape…yay!  He had another laser therapy and acupunture treatment and right now he is thoroughly relaxed.

I told Dr. Rowe about the constipation, and told him I gave him pure pumpkin, and he totally agreed.  I asked if a pain patch for Romeo would be better than the 3 meds he is on.  Dr. Rowe said that pain patches are wonderful, but are more constipating than the meds, so nix on that.

I asked for a prinout of Romeo’s diagnosis, but the line needed to print it out was busy, so I will pick it up when Romeo goes back for his treatment on Friday.  There are so many things going on I can’t remember them all, so needed the information for my own satisfaction.  I will share that when I get it.

As far as getting him calmed down…  Of all the things I have thought of, and all the things you OBP’s have suggested and other people have suggested, simply are not workable for Romeo.  He is a case and a half. I may have to try the Rescue Remedy, but I’d have to find out how that would work with the meds.  You would think that two different pain meds and a muscle relaxer would definitely calm him down, but not my Romeo.

Gina, I am so excited for you that you are looking for another pug to love.  Pugs are addictive.  We have been owned by pugs since 1963, and can’t imagine what my life would have been without them.  We’ve had lots of other babies along the way, and have dearly loved each and every one of them, but pugs are just special. The only pug that didn’t have Daddy’s love is Romeo.  He came along two years after he passed.  I pray that you will have a pug in your arms and in your heart very soon.

Hellen, I know you are so excited.  It must seem like a long time before Dakota comes home.  I would love to see that welcome home event.

Pug mama, Abby is in my daily prayers.  Please keep us posted on your sweetheart.

Hellen ~ I am so excited for you. Late January will be here before you know it. She is one lucky pug to have you for a Mama!!!

Sue VDB ~ So glad to hear that the acupuncture and light therapy seem to have Romeo relaxed. Too bad about the pain patch but good info to have. Great idea getting the print out. I always take (or took) notes whenever I was at the vet. So much info I knew I would forget something. Being owned by a pug is so special. I am excited about looking too. I feel that Pip would want me to get another one. It’s his fault that I want another one!! He made it so special for me that how could I not?!! smile  My friend was asking me if we would get another dog and I said yes. She asked what kind I would get and I said a pug of course. She didn’t get it. She kept asking why. What is it about the pug that you love so much. And I tried to explain it to her but I couldn’t. Growing up we’ve had yorkies and poodles and terrier mixes and a coon hound so I have been around a few breeds here and there….there is just something about a pug. They are funny w/o trying to be, they are loyal and snuggly and so darn cute. You just have to be owned by one to ‘get it’ I suppose! And Sue VDB, even though Romeo doesn’t have Daddy’s love physically here, I know he is watching over the both of you and giving his love that way. smile

See! Once again, I have to get mushy and say how much I love this group! You are all so important to me. I don’t know if I mentioned this before so if I have I apologize but…after Pip passed, I called my sister, then my Dad and then immediately got on here to let you all know. Later in the day, my sister asked if I let my “pug people” (as she fondly refers to you all) know. I told her besides you and Dad, they were the first ones I told.

Hugs to all of you! God Bless all of you and your babies!
