To the Eye Doc We Go

Luna

On Friday, Luna went back for her second check-up to make sure the obstructed gland in her eyelid continued to heal.

When we arrived, Luna checked herself in and then chatted up a dog in the waiting room.

It was her turn before we knew it and Luna was a very good girl while her eyes were being examined. Here she is getting a Schirmer Tear Test.

Luna getting a Schirmer Tear Test

Her tear production was fantastic. She measured 18 mm/60s in one eye and 20 mm/60s in the other eye. This is so much better than several years ago when her one eye wouldn't even register. Also, the extra eye drops we have been giving her cleared up the blockage in the gland in her eyelid. So it was a great report for the lucky girl.

The reward for such a great report? Luna doesn't have to go back for a check-up until January of 2010! Yay!

After all the good news, Luna slept soundly on the way home.

Luna, this is wonderful news!!!  You and your Schirmer test pics bring memories of my Baxter having the same…He, too, has low tear production.

What a great report!  Now I think you need a special treat to celebrate!

That’s wonderful news!  And how do you carry your camera absolutely everywhere and take such marvelous pictures in all circumstances?  (Loved the pug mountain pictures.)

Wahoo for Miss Luna!  I am so happy she is doing well.  She is a special little girl.
And I think she deserved a special treat too.  But I’m thinking more in the lines of her very own Luna-burger!

Awesome job!  So glad to hear Miss Luna is doing well!

And your description of Luna “checking in” had me cracking up!

I loved the “checking in” and the “Chatting up”. You do have a way, OBP.  I’m also glad to hear that Miss Luna’s eye’s are doing so well.  It’s all the TLC she gets at home, to be sure.  I can’t imagine either of my guys standing still for those things in their eyes.  Wow, what a princess.

Our guys had their annual visits this weekened and got great reports, except for Biscuits ears :-(—- drops and ointment for 10 days—he’s not happy.

The “checking in” part reminds me of the “checking in” point at our vet.  They have a fake fire hydrant (about a foot tall) sitting on the edge of the parking lot next to the entrance. hee, hee.

I echo the wonderful news.  That is so fantastic and I am sure you must be on cloud 9 to receive such good news about this sweet little girl.  Goes to show what loving, dedicated care can do.

Romeo update:  he had to go back to the vet this morning.  His incision was leaking and leaving spots wherever he laid.  Turns out he has an allergic reaction to the staples, plus he has not come down with kennel cough.  Have to check on him this afternoon.  Still appreciate all the prayers.

Sue VDB,  Love and kisses to dear little Romeo!  Has he not had the Bordetella vaccine?  My C.J. and Toeby hate it (it’s a liquid that they put in their nose) but it prevents kennel cough.

I’m sure he’ll be much better soon.  He can’t miss with all the love and prayers comin’ his way!

That is GREAT news!
She looks so happy sleeping in the car.
How do the other pugs react when Luna goes on trips all by her lonesome?
