Tilt

Benjamin

Getting a head title out of Benny is almost too easy and it is a privilege that I abuse regularly. All you have to do is say a string of words that he knows. For example, for this shot, I asked "Benny, have you seen mommy? Did Grammy come to see you today? How about G-Ma? Is G-Ma going to come see you? Did you eat your lunch today? How about Henry? Where's Henry? Where's your sister? Looney?"

As you talk, you are sure to get the classic, left, right, little more to the right, back to the left pug head tilt.

Great shot! Would this be considered a tilt at 3 o’clock? Benny is answering “yes, yes, yes, Mama”, to all of your questions.
Ruby Claire finally made her first barking debut Tuesday morning at the age of one year and one week old. There was a new man mowing the lawn and she took notice of it and let out several little barks. Not a peep out of her since.

See, Kathleen, Ruby Claire is just so smart that she only barks when it’s important. “Mom, there’s a strange man in our yard!!!”

I love a good pug head tilt!  Sleighbelle was a pro at it, as Benny is also!

Corrine, I had to laugh.  Can you imagine what someone who isn’t akin to our interactions with our pugs must think about our conversational skills?

Kathleen, congratulations on Ruby Claire finally giving you peace (or is it ‘piece’) of mind.  Of course, this means that you can NEVER complain to this group about her barking in the future should it get out of hand.  “Yip, yip,” or was it “BARK,BARK”?

I love how his little tongue is even ever so slightly tilted to the left, too.  He is most handsome puggy!  Beautiful color, beautiful wrinkles.  Precious personality.  Whole lotta lovin’ from that mini-man right there. Want to squeeze him and sniff him.  Ah-dorable!

The head tilt is one of my favorite things about pugs…it is one adorable trait.  And I too go crazy just so their heads will tilt…right to left, back and forth.

You Do have the head tilt down pat, don’t you Ben?

I think Lily wasn’t programmed for head tilting, cuz so far she has yet to tilt her head for me.

Our Conversations w/Pugs:  In addition to the charming head-tilt, does anyone else have pugs that open and close their mouths at various points of conversation - looking like they have something to say, but no words come out?

I sort of “opp-opp” open/shut my own mouth in response to Bella - hoping to keep it going to see if she would actually manage to say something.  Kind of like dogs who yawn and howl at same time, making words sounds while they do it.

I worked and worked with my cat years ago to see if I could teach him to say, “I LOVE YOU” as he was “caterwaulling” at me when I’d first get home from work.  I KNEW he was making the noises he was as a form of greeting.  But the “I Love You” would’ve made it so much sweeter.  Never happened though.
