The Perch

Cupid

This tattered mess is Cupid's perch. She has had it for about 6 years now and as you can see her constant use and the unforgiving Florida sun has really taken a toll on the tower. It is in such rough shape that I should have put it to the curb a long time ago, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it because Cupid loves it so much. The fabric is so dry rotted that I worry it is just going to rip when when she is laying on it and she is going to plummet to the ground.

Little does Cupid know that she has a new kitty perch heading her way. It should hopefully be delivered this week. Now, we just have to hope that the fickle kitty loves her new perch as much as she loves her old perch.

I love this. I didn’t even notice the rip at first. Hilarious! And I bet once the new one arrives, she will still pick the old one…at least for a little while. What a lovely kitty QP is. Your little head looks so soft and is just begging to be smooched!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Corrine and all:  I could not get onto the computer yesterday (don’t even get me started on the computer problems I have been having lately) but my heart was with you all as I thought about it being Solsey’s day.  Even two years later, the thought of that little girl can bring quick, hot tears to my eyes, and yet, we all were so blessed that she was shared with us.  Thank you for your talents, Corrine, and your ability to make her so real and loved for us all.  There will never be another pug like Solsey, but there doesn’t need to be.  Every pug is an individual but Solsey was the bestest of the best - and still is without taking away from our own special pugs.  Love you Solsey and always will.

Besides computer problems, we have had several trips to the vets.  Abby came up lame earlier this week (serious arthritis across shoulder and down into her leg), Georgie couldn’t breathe without goosehonking and Abby had a massive (well it was to me) ear bleeding and puss problem.  Gracie has yet to even ever go to the vets.  I did goof yesterday with their meds - I gave the wrong pill to the wrong pug luckily without consequences.

I have been making chicken jerky treats for them because of a worry of chicken jerky treats (and most others, it seems) coming from China with the possibility of illness and death.  Yes, China once again.  The only jerky treats I could find that did not come from China were ones the pugs (and even Cooper) will not eat.  Since they all get jerky treats before bed, I just had to make them.  Now, if any body has a better idea or a good recipe, please let me know.  We could probably all benefit from that.

Abby was brought up short the other day. Georgie is like an elephant and remembers injustices.  Yesterday he remembered all the times that Abby pushed him onto a very small space of an arm of my chair so she could tell him who’s boss, and all the times she wouldn’t let him up the doggy stairs on to my lap, and many other things.  She was snuggled sleeping on her rabbit on the floor when Georgie saw her.  He walked over to where she was sleeping, turned around and stuck his butt in her face then settled down to sleep himself.  Paybacks suck!

Enjoy your weekend kids!

Happy new perch QP.  I, too, hope you take to the new one.  At any rate looking forward to the pictures.

Frankie has a perch in front of a window he loves to look out and watch the squirrels and birds, and nap.

Bo Peep had a solid red rubber bone she loved.  Somehow it got lost and we bought her a new one, but couldn’t find another red one, so the new one was blue.  She wanted nothing to do with it, and when we finally found another red one, she wanted nothing to do with it either.  She wanted her old one.

Romeo can take or leave toys.  Once in a while he will chew on one, but he’d rather find paper to chew on.

Wishing everyone a glorious weekend.

Good heavens, HUCKLE:  You’ve been having a terrible time with your crew. I hope things begin to turn around for you over the weekend.  Maybe if you have some warmer, sunny days (not sure where you are) - it will help to relieve the arthritis and maybe even curb the goose-honking.  I certainly hope so.
I give BELLA duck treats - usually by Cadet, wrapped with sweet potato.  I’ve never looked at where they come from, but I WILL now.  I also order her HAPPY HIPS Duck Jerky Strips w/glucosamine.  Will check those also - but you might have better luck with duck than chicken.  I have to break off little bites of the jerky strips as MISS B isn’t a great one for chewing - would much rather wolf things down and then make caack-caack-choking noises until she brings it back up and and re-chew whatever didn’t go down the first time.  So most of her treats are hand fed in small bites.
Thanks for mentioning the chicken/China business, though as I will definitely look for this.

Huckle:  Have you tried the Milo’s Kitchen brand jerky? There is one made with only chicken; one made with beef and one with beef and sausage. It is sold in most stores. I have heard good reviews about it. I hope your furry darlings are feeling better.
Wishing you and everyone a good weekend.

Mary, that is exactly what Gracie does….guess it tastes better the second time around.

I hate to tell you guys but both Milo’s Kitchen and Happy Hips both of which are made in China.  I thought those two would be made elsewhere. Sometimes you have to look down and even if they say distributed by an American company, a closer look does say “Made in China”.

Now I don’t know.  Since you mentioned duck jerky, that bears looking into and I will.  I am wondering, though, if those treats are problemental as well.  One of the problems is somanella (spelling’s off I’m sure) and if one factory had that with chicken, could it be duck jerky also.

Huckle what a time you have been having! My little one jusy sleeps, chanes toys, sleeps…etc. Thankfully she is so young not many things can go on.

Dakato gets baked chick filets for treats and not often.

Huckle, thanks for telling me about the Milo’s Kitchen jerky. I have never bought them, I remembered someone telling me about them. I have never given jerky to my dogs because it is difficult to digest and the only treats they get are small pieces of fruit or cheerios. Thanks for telling me about the “made in China” in small print. Gee wizz, is anything made in USA anymore?

HUCKLE and all at OBP:  I’m really at a loss on Bella’s duck treats.  I checked everything over the weekend and it is ALL coming from China.  I don’t know about Milo’s kitchen - have actually stopped buying her treats in the local stores as I couldn’t get the duck that she liked - so have been ordering through Amazon.  I may be going the chicken filet route like Hellen (don’t know if I’m up to making chicken jerky at home).  I thought I was doing so well by Bella - staying away from higher calories - like the duck and sweet potato chews and the glucosamine in the duck jerky from Happy Hips.
Will start doing more investigation re:  Milo’s Kitchen products.  Really need to keep on our toes, it seems.  Thank-you, HUCKLE, for the alert.

Trust me, the duck jerky isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Yes Lilo loves the sweet potato in the middle but that duck made her the smelliest puggy on 4 legs! Pooooeeeeeyyyyy!
