Temptation

Benjamin

The other morning, Benjamin pulled up a chair at the breakfast table and was eyeing my banana. The evil part of me loves to test the pugs. Especially, when it is a choice between something they really want (food) and something they know they shouldn't do (eat off the table).

So, while Benny was eyeing my banana, I moved the banana to the edge of the table so that it was easily in Benny's reach. He sniffed it a few times and then played it cool. He learned a while ago, the hard way I might add, that bananas are foods you peel before you eat. So, I knew that an unpeeled banana wasn't going to be much of a temptation for him.

So, I opened the banana just a tad and sat it back on the table. Benny became much more interested and smelled the banana and then licked his lips and smelled the banana a bit more. He looked at the banana, then looked at me, back at the banana and then back to me. It was as if he knew it was one of my sinister tests. So, I of course caved and give him, Henry and Luna a few bites of banana.

You are a bad mommy!! I hope you gave Benny a piece of the banana. My gang love all kinds of fruit. Apples and bananas are their favorites.

Speaking of bananas….lets talk pumpkin!!LOL!! last week our Maltese had a bad case of diareha and i finally went to petsmart to buy something over the counter but the manager there suggested pumpkin!! Straight from the can and not pumpkin filling….just straight 100% pumpkin from the can. So we 1st gave her the the over the counter stuff…Although i dont know exactly how much i was able to get in her….but it seemed to work…but now i have this open can of pumpkin??? Thinking of all of you i decided to mix a spoon each day in their dinner (coco beau and Lu,they live in a completely different world then the maltese!!! She’s is my husbands dog) The 1st day they didnt even notice….just ate like wild starved puppets!! But each day they are acting more and more like i’m tricking them into something…..I’m not so sure they are wild about this pumpkin like all of you say…The mgr at petsmart said it was the greatest thing and gives it to all of her dogs, they love it…I told her all about pugin bread and she said give it a try!? The vet also said it was a good source of fiber. So what do you think….Keep giving…or go back to their old tried and true meal??

OK, that one worked…strange.  In any event, I just said what a tease you are, Corrine and how wonderful it was of Benny to show such lovely manners in the face of such temptation!  You’re quite a good boy Benjamin…big kiss to you!

I think Benny’s saying…“if this falls into my mouth, am I guilty?”

Good boy Benny!  What would Mom have done, after all this “cruel” teasing, if you had caved in?  She set you up and you rose to the challenge.

Benny, that sweet, sad face would have had me give in also. Thank goodness you passed Mom’s test. My gals love bites of bananas, but they also prefer theirs “opened” and cut.

i notice Henry in the background playing it cool but keeping an eye on the proceedings.  My guess is he is the mastermind and he sent Benny to the table to play the guilt card and get everyone a taste of Banana.  And he didn’t even have to work for it…  Smart puggie…

My grandson spent last night with us, and left some of his bedtime snack uneaten on the table.  While we were putting him to bed, the snack disappeared….....

Ooo Tracy, good eyes!  Look at Hank in the background…So funny.  I can totally picture him “casually” trotting by, head turned seeing what Ben is up to, thinking, “nice work brother…I admire your skills to get her to cave!”...

What a good boy Benny is! Mom, you trained him well. I have all I can do to keep whatever out of the reach of my crew!! bananas, pumpkin, green peppers-what an assortment of things pugs like to eat! Who Knew? Not so sure I will try these delights on the kids, but may try the pumpkin. Pug hugs from the YES IT SNOWED AGAIN!!!Colorado 5

What is this thing pugs have for fruit.  Though I have never gotten Abby to have any interest in bananas, whatsoever, in the last few days, she has shared fresh pineapple and a sliver of a fresh peach.  What is up with that?  The sweet?  I figure, if the vitamins are good for me, they can’t hurt her either.  Especially since the dog kibble she gets these days has things like blueberries and applesauce and sweet potatoes in it-LOL!!

Max and Ruby would rest their chin right on it and sigh deeply.  Maybe sneeze on it once or twice, in case you decide you no longer want it wink.  They don’t like bananas though.

As for the pumpkin, yes canned pumpkin works wonders for poop problems.  A spoon or so mixed in with their food has always helped our pups if their poops were too loose, or if they were constipated.

They both like it, but Ruby gets suspicious of anything new in her dish.  You have to mix it with the kibble.

Thanks dances in garden!!! i have mixed it throughly…...i think when its gone…..which is about another tablespoon full…...i’ll let it go for awhile. I guess its only needed with poop problems cause they dont seem to like it otherwise.

Benjamin, you sure know the way to your human’s heart!  This is the one thing that Jade would NOT eat off the table.  She simply does NOT like bananas.  But she’s a garbage gut about everything else!
