Swim Camp is Underway

Benjamin

I haven't talked about Swim Camp much this year, but Swim Camp is well underway. The pugs have been getting some pool time in pretty much every weekend. Because of the heat, our walks have been short, hot and to the point.

This year's swim camp is highly specialized for each pug. Henry plays his normal game of fetch, which pretty much gets him a full lap in. Between laps, he hops out of the pool and takes a little break. Then he comes back to the pool step when he is ready to do another lap.

Benny, hates to swim in the middle of the pool. He likes to stay near the edge of the pool. So, Benny, swims around the edge of the pool with a human in tow.

Luna likes to be near people in the pool, so she swims from person to person. When she reaches a person, they scoop her up and hold her for a bit until she is ready to swim again. Then she heads on over to the next person.

Henry, you rock baby.  Benny, you are being safe, and since you can’t do those long walks, this is very good exercise for you.  Luna, you have it down to a science so you get all the attention you want.

Annie completed her second traing class yesterday learning out to loose leash walk.  She picked it up very quickly…it’s her mom who is slow on the uptake. Sara told me the reason she walks around me all the time and gets me tangled up is because she is not getting enough exercise, but I noticed she is not as bad as she was, so hopefully the two four hour sessions at doggie daycamp are helping.  My new routine is to get up at 5 am and take her for a 10 minute walk…oh great joy; anything to help Annie, which in turn helps me.  Romeo evidently thought I needed more exercise.

It has been determined that Annie is probably 1-1/2 years old, so just out of puppyhood.

Oh goody, I love swim camp but I don’t know how to manage all you do.  Your description of the pugs and the pool is so funny.  I can just picture it in my mind.

Leave it to Romeo, the little scamp.  He’s just taking care of his mommy and new baby sister.  He’s probably also chuckling at your getting up at 5 am.
