Success For Frenchy

Frenchy

Recently, we were contacted by Compassionate Pug Rescue (CPR) and asked to lend a helping hand. CPR is where we rescued Luna from almost 9 years ago to the day. CPR asked if we could do a home visit on a family that lived near us. Since CPR is located in Miami (about 4 hours away) we knew logistically it was a good plan for them to "subcontract" this task. So, we did, in fact, arrange for a home visit to meet the Fuller family. The family currently has a pug and a larger mixed breed dog, as well. They spotted Frency on the CPR website though and were excited to see if they would make a good forever home for Frenchy (a pug mix).

So, we chatted by email to arrange a mutually beneficial time to meet them in person and take a peek at their home. Upon arriving, the pups greeted us a that the door. Sweet dogs that welcome company is always a good sign. We met the adults of the home, their son (a kindergartener) and a baby sitter that is a part of the family. The Fullers have an older daughter, as well, who attends college in another state so we didn't have the opportunity to say hello to her.

The Fullers have beautiful home, loving family and sweet dogs. Of course, we will partial to the pug, PJ but Bailey Lou was a real sweetie, too. Since a recent loss of puggy Tinkerbell earlier in the year, there were looking to once again become a 3 dog household. They spotted Frenchy on the CPR website, put in their paperwork and were waiting for the all clear from the home visit. We were happy to oblige and the next day they traveled far South to pick up Frenchy. I am still saying Frenchy but their intentions were to call Frenchy Shotzi instead. I am not sure if that transition has taken place yet but what I do know is that Frenchy made it back to their home and we know that they are working on settling in and getting a new routine. Frenchy already sounds like quite a handful and is an alpha female with spice! So, the transition to the new normal make take a little while.

What we are most happy for, though, is that a pug(ish) in rescue has a new forever home and that is one less dog out of foster care and into a more stable life. Cheers to the Fullers and to Frenchy/Shotzi for landing a cool pad and loving family!

Yay for Frenchie and her family!  We worked with rescue in Northern VA before moving to the Orlando area.  It is such a rewarding feeling to see a new family form!

Sue Wooding—No.  Sadly did not make the trip to visit the Fullers with me.  He really is not a healthy enough position for that to have been successful.  :(
We would have loved to have to have had that happen.  But the real life needs of Henry come before our wishes for what could be.

Congratulations to the Fullers.  I know as an OBP fan that Frenchy, Shotzi is going to an excellent home because the OBP family would have it no other way.

Corrine, I know Henry has been dealing with a lot, but I thought everything was moving along.  Have I missed something that you would say: “He really is not a healthy enough position for that to have been successful”?

Sue VDB—First, I want to say that I loved your caption on this week’s caption this photo (brought tears to my eyes).  And no, you have not missed anything.  It’s really Henry’s mind more than body that isn’t healthy enough.  He gets pretty uncomfortable in surroundings he does not know (like someone else’s home where he hasn’t had a chance to memorize the lay of the land).  He has also lost some of his social skills (no interest in meeting new dogs, little interest in meeting new people).  Knowing Henry, we recognized that this would put him in a position of anxiety and we did not want to subject him to that.  Plus, it would not have been fair to the Fullers for us to have needed to micromanage Henry when we were there to learn about them.  We wanted to give the Fullers our full attention and we knew that for sure would not be possible had Henry tagged along.  It’s more in the area of mental/emotional well being where Henry is having the most struggles.  Sorry to worry you, does that help make sense?

Congratulations to the Fullers!  I love a good story like this.  I am sorry though that Henry has lost his desire to meet new people—2 or 4 legged.  I certainly understand his anxiety and stress and you are certainly right to make Henry your top priority (as always)!!

Corrine, what you say makes perfect sense.  Henry has been through so much in the last few months and it is understandable he would be anxious. Henry is so strong, it is hard to realize the trauma has taken its toll on him.

I just wanted to make sure his physical status was the best it could be.

Thank you so much for clarifying.  Pug hugs and kisses to #Amazing Henry.

What a sweet, happy family Frenchie/Shotzi has arrived at!  I love the pictures, but especially the one of Shotzi’s new little boy looking up at him.  Shotzi has hit the jackpot!

Corrine, thank you for explaining more about Henry ♥

What a wonderful story. What a neat thing to be able to do Corrine! Sounds like Frenchy/Shotzi has it made in the shade.

God Bless sweet Henry too! #henrystrong

So glad Frency/Shotzi will have a loving family/home! If Henry was there I’m sure he would have put his stamp-paw-of approval. Pug hugs from pastor sue & the Colorado 2
