Sol’s Follow Up Today

Sol

Today, we take Sol in for her post surgery checkup.  From our perspective, Sol’s mouth seems to be healing quite nicely, but we will know for sure after today’s visit.

We got the cytology results for Sol’s mammary tumors and it is good news.  The lumps are inflamed tissue.  We will need to make an appointment with our regular vet to see if he recommends having them removed.  Right now they are very small, but if they grow in size odds are likely we will need to have them removed.  The trickier part is figuring out if Sol is spayed or not.  We haven’t been able to find a scar on her hairy little belly and we have learned that an ultrasound might not be able to give us a definitive answer either.  I’m not really keen on waiting to see if she goes into heat to find out if she is spayed.

I’m not so concerned about not seeing a scar on her belly, because Luna’s scar is barely visible and she has absolutely no fur on her belly.  When we adopted Luna, her scar was very pronounced, but it has since faded away to almost nothing.  However, if Sol was spayed early in life the odds of her developing inflamed mammary tissue are very slim.  So, hopefully, Sol has been spayed, but just not as early as they would like.  Her being spayed, even if it was later in life, would be better than her never being spayed.  We shall see.

Good luck to Sol for her checkup today!

And that’s great news about the mammary tumors!!

But I have a question about whether she has already being spayed.  Since she’s an older girl, could she have stopped going into heat anyway?  Do dogs have menopause?

You’ll be on my mind today.  I’m sure everything will be just fine with little miss Sol.  Also glad to hear that her lumps are just inflammed tissue.  If they need to be removed later then so be it but she’s been through enough for now!  She’s such a beauty!  Take care of all of you!

What an adorable picture of Sol.  She sure is a little lady of mystery.  The good news is inflamed tissue, not worse.  Very best wishes and prayers go with you on her checkup.

I love this little face.  How sweet and trusting she is.  I know that her follow up will be good news.  I sure hope for everyone’s sake, that Sol has been spayed.

I’m with Martha…How old do canines stop going into heat, or do they?

That is our question of the day!

All our best to Sol for a “happy” check up!

It is now 7:15 pm CDT, 8:1 pm EDT.  I’m hoping no news so far is good news. I’ve looked at this awesome picture of Sol several times today and decided I had to have it on my desktop, and there she is.
