Sol’s Follow Up Today
Today, we take Sol in for her post surgery checkup. From our perspective, Sol’s mouth seems to be healing quite nicely, but we will know for sure after today’s visit.
We got the cytology results for Sol’s mammary tumors and it is good news. The lumps are inflamed tissue. We will need to make an appointment with our regular vet to see if he recommends having them removed. Right now they are very small, but if they grow in size odds are likely we will need to have them removed. The trickier part is figuring out if Sol is spayed or not. We haven’t been able to find a scar on her hairy little belly and we have learned that an ultrasound might not be able to give us a definitive answer either. I’m not really keen on waiting to see if she goes into heat to find out if she is spayed.
I’m not so concerned about not seeing a scar on her belly, because Luna’s scar is barely visible and she has absolutely no fur on her belly. When we adopted Luna, her scar was very pronounced, but it has since faded away to almost nothing. However, if Sol was spayed early in life the odds of her developing inflamed mammary tissue are very slim. So, hopefully, Sol has been spayed, but just not as early as they would like. Her being spayed, even if it was later in life, would be better than her never being spayed. We shall see.
