Resting Up

Henry and Luna

I love the holiday season, but things can get pretty stressful at times. And the pugs are not immune to the holiday stress. Just think about all the extra responsibilities the pugs have during the holiday season. There's all the extra tail wagging that needs to be done to greet all the holiday guests. Not to mention all the extra snacks that they need to plead for. And don't forget that they have to supervise the tree trimming and all the other holiday decorating.

Luckily, this isn't the pugs' first holiday season. So, they are very aware of all the extra work they have ahead of them. Therefore, they have been getting in some extra naps to make sure they are well rested and prepared for the holiday season.

So glad to hear that they find time to rest!  I would love to find a restful moment before this madness begins!! Just thinking about it can be a bit stressful!
Enjoy your day everyone, and I am going to try to take a page out of Benny, Henry & Luna’s book.. rest up more often!

Luna and Henry are definitely in their snooze/comfort zone.  When I first saw Benny, I thought he was covered in a blanket…but no, he is just a bag of wrinkles, which made me laugh.

Happy Thanksgiving OBP household, and Happy Thanksgiving to all the U.S. OBPers.  If you are traveling go and return safely.

Gina, if you can, please let us know how Pip is doing.

Hello everyone! I loved yesterday’s pic of sweet Looney and of course of todays gang. They all look fabulous! Love the wrinkles Benny. It kind of looks like Luna is saying “Do you mind?!”

We had a very rough Sunday night and Monday. Pip is doing better today though. I haven’t cried that much in a long time! Yuck!

He had a terrible night on Sunday night and was in quite a bit of pain. When I took him in on Monday morn, they upped his pain meds and and started the IV antibiotics right away. They ran blood work and did a ‘snap test’ which shows how the pancreas is doing. Well it showed his pancreas is normal. So he waited and did it again a little later and it showed normal again. His white blood cell count is extremely high and they think it’s the membranes that surround the organs and body cavities that is infected. So, they are continuing with the strong anti-biotics again today and his electrolyte numbers were really high too so they changed the fluids that they are giving him in his IV and that should make a difference too.

Well when he came home last night, he ate (which he hadn’t done all day) and slept comfortably. Sophie got us up at about 12:30 and he wanted to eat again so we fed him. We browned some hamburger for him (the vet said that would be ok too) and wanted that at 12:30 in the morning.!!! Very good. Then when we got up this morning, he wanted more!!! That is soooo good! He really needed to eat! He is off to the vet again today for more fluids and meds. Pray this anti-biotic kills the infection. We have him home tomorrow and we will be giving him oral anti biotics and then back to the vet on Friday. I pray this works. Thank you for all of your prayers everyone! I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Pug Hugs to you all from Gina & Pip!

Gina, wish I could hug you.  It has been such a rough time for Pip and you.  Glad the pancrease tests are normal…that is fantastic news.  More prayers that the infection is totally under control and Pip will be all normal again and in your loving arms a healthy and happy boy.  Wanting to eat us a healthy sign.  Will be anxiously waiting for more news.

Wow Gina…I, too, wish I could hug you and Pip, what a time you both are having.  How happy I am to read that he’s gobbling up his special midnight snack!  Many, many prayers going up for the rest of this to be smooooth sailing and that the infection gets cleared up and there are no more complications.  Will be thinking of you both over the holiday weekend.  Please, please give him some smooches on his precious lil’ head from me!

So glad that LUNA and her Pugsley Brothers are taking their holiday responsibilities so seriously - in true pug fashion:  Nothing brightens up the holidays more than a curly-tail wage and accompanying pug-snort!  Hope they enjoy themselves amidst it all, also.
GINA:  We will all have a much nicer Thanksgiving and will give special Thanks for PIP’S return to health.  Bless his little pug-pickin’ heart!  Wish he could read all the loving comments and Get Well wishes that have been a steady part of the OBP blogging these past several weeks.  Be sure and let him know how much LOVE and the many prayers that have been sent for him.  And hope he enjoys as much pancreas-gentle-food as he likes.  (I know when humans have had bouts with pancreatitis - they often follow a diet that doesn’t tax the pancreas - sort of like a “gall-bladder diet” -low fat, non-spicy, non-leafy - maybe boiled chicken and rice would work well for him?  Not trying to be a butt-inski and your vet would know best.  Just a suggestion.)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all at OBP (and an especially nice one for PIP.)

That was supposed to be “curly-tail WAG”  Good grief, Charlie Brown!

Sue and Mary ~ Thank you so much too. It means so much all the nice things you are saying. (can you tell it’s important to me? I keep checking this blog.) smile  And Mary, no way are you a butt-insky. Thank you for the suggestion! The vet suggested plain browned hamburger with rice so I’m sure the boiled chicken with rice would be great too! Love and hugs to you all! I hope everyone else’s pug babies are doing well. Still praying for those that need it! smile

I think you forgot an extra duty or two, Corrine.  As usual, the pugs are great at multitasking.  In addition to their pre-holiday resting, they are also checking the chairs and sofa, to see if any cushions need flipping or plumping, and making sure that the pug beds are all in working order, just in case.

And, don’t tell me that they don’t supervise the meal preparation.  lol Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving (in the US) and for those across the pond, enjoy a little something special to eat.  And, most of all, may we all find time in our busy, celebrating schedule to think of all the things we have to be thankful for.  One of those for me is that Corrine and hubby are owned by such wonderful pugs, and that they let all of us into their OBP-world.

Benny looks a if he could just slip out of those lucious wrinkles.

Carla, I agree wholeheartedly with you on OBP.  It is for us a very generous look into some wonderful pugs lives that is unequaled on the internet.  A place to share.  A place to cry.  A place to laugh.  And, a place to share.  Thank you Corrine.

Now Gina, I’m late getting on today so you may not get another voice on the internet that couldn’t be happier for you as Pip seems to be recovering.  Great news about the pancreas and prayers for healing the rest of it.  I hope you take these messages from OBP and they surround you and Pip and encase you with our love.  Hugs to keep you and Pip safe.

And for the rest of pugdom ((hugs))

Georgie is better and back to yelling at Cooper as Cooper races around the backyard and when he gets close to Georgie, Georgie has this funny little bark telling Cooper to go away.  Cooper, of course, just keeps racing around the yard like a dog possessed.  He could be.  Maybe we need an excorcist.  At any rate, it’s fun to watch them.

A sincere wish for everyone to have a grateful Thanksgiving full of pug love.

One last comment (for today - from me) to HUCKLE:  I get an extra chuckle hearing about GEORGIE (providing he’s feeling good and it sounds like he is):  My father’s name was GEORGE, and I had planned on naming a male pug (if I got one - which I haven’t as yet) GEORGE.  Kinda of like:  “George of the Jungle” - just sounds like a good name for a pugger.  BTW:  I also love the name COOPER and just got such a fun mental image of him tearing around the yard and GEORGIE “yelling” at him!  Good share.  Thanks.

Hellen and Huckle ~ Thank you so much. It all means the world to me. I really feel the hugs and love and good thoughts from everyone. Pip is home now and he looks so good! He was so happy to see me and his eyes are so bright. He ate his supper and is now scrounging in true Pip fashion! Keep those prayers comin’! Pray that the new anti-biotics kill the infection! Thank you thank you!

Carla ~ I second what you said. Thank you Corrine! Thank you for sharing your pugs and your life and providing this for all of us.

And Huckle ~ Thanks for the chuckle again! I too can see Cooper running like a nut and Georgie ‘yelling’ at him.

God Bless you all! Love and hugs from Gina & a bright eyed Pip!

Yeah Gina!  Sending you prayers for Pip to keep on feeling better.

Abby is practicing her napping skills in preparation for turkey day tomorrow.  Going to go to grandma’s house, with my brother’s family.  Abby is having a few good days, she would sleep all day if I let her though.

Love them jelly rolls. What are they getting for Christmas?  Pugs seem to get the most pleasure out of destroying what you least want destroyed, I recommend you buy them some new leather shoes or a designer purse.

Thank you Pug Mama. Enjoy your Thanksgiving! Napping is very important. I think I might be part pug. I love taking naps! smile

Very funny pug daddy.
