Reinforcement

Benjamin

The boys have this thing where if one of them barks, the other comes running as backup. Luna often joins them, but a lot of times she is busy and doesn't really care what her silly brothers are barking at. However, you can always count on the boys to go running if there hear the other one barking.

Yesterday morning, Henry heard a noise coming from the backyard area, so he bolted out the doggie door and off in the direction of the noise barking his head off. Benjamin, promptly sprung into action as well, although it was clear that he didn't hear anything. The only issue is that it was raining yesterday morning. So rather than bolt into the yard with his brother, Benjamin stood at the doggie door that leads outside and barked his head off. A win win in his eyes. He provided moral support for his bro, albeit from a distance, and stayed nice and dry inside the house.

I don’t blame you Benjamin, I’m not a big fan of going out in the rain either.  You can lend just as much support being nice and dry.

Perhaps Benny has decided NOT to audition for “Singing In The Rain” (Gene Kelley) after all since it really does include the ‘wet stuff’ he is so adverse to but he will do backup if needed (and dry).

Pug Mama - I meant to tell you, I read Patricia McConnell’s “book” on helping Gracie adjust to all things long and scary, and it mirrors the advice given.  Thank you.  We are slowly sensitizing Gracie to the scary things.

Now to Abby…I don’t know how she thinks we could forget, but Abby has to constantly re-establish her role as (demented) Diva just so no one will forget.  Every morning as I sit and watch the news, read the newspaper and drink my coffee, the two black ones get on my lap as soon as I sit down.  Gracie jumps up, Georgie uses the doggy stairs to get up.  Abby waits on the floor until they get comfortable (but you know, their comfort is the last thing on her mind).  Abby also must be begged and encouraged to get up.  She finally jumps up, an evil little smile on her face, but she’s not done.  She walks back and forth across my lap and with each circuit, she moved them over a little more with each passing until they are scooted over to her satisfaction…Abby has my whole lap (rather substantial)...the black ones scrunched up on one arm of the chair.  Her work done, she goes to sleep.  Gracie has only room enough to put her head on Georgie’s rump and Georgie can only put his head on Abby’s rump which he does with trepidation.

Have a good weekend, kids!

It’s good that Henry can count on Benjamin “having his back”!

I am sure that Luna is much too busy answering fan mail, etc. to be bothered with barking! And Benny is no dummy…He knows he can still bark and stay dry at the same time!  These “guys” are hilarious, Corrine!

My two fawn pugs will run out in the yard if they hear anything. My black pug stops on the covered patio to make sure the weather is o.k. first.

Oh My!!!  GiGi thinks both your boys are very bright but is surprized they go out in the rain. Don’t they know that the puddlys are pugs that could not get back in fast enough??? She told Me (Grannie) that the first day she arrived. That is why she has pee-pee pads in our bathroom!!!

She does back Gwen up when she is outside barking!!

NOW for the big scare of the week…..I could not find my OBP on line. Thought maybe you were late BUT after my Grandson looked he found you in the trash!!!! How rude my computer is!!

ALL have a great weekend. Will see you all Monday!!

Huckle, glad to hear you checked the book out.  Here’s hoping that you will get some success with her techniques and exposures.

Benny, I will have to say you are the smart one in this situation, Henry on the other hand, going outside in the rain?  Silly brudder!
