Rainman Routine

Henry

In talking recently, we realized that we have fallen into quite a routine with Henry. Here's how a typical week plays out for us:

  • Each weekday morning is at City Center (different area of the park each day)
  • Monday nights=Memorial Park
  • Tuesday nights=Reed Canal Park
  • Wednesday nights=This is the Wild Card! It's either our neighborhood or the people beach (or an off night when I get to work from home on Thursdays)
  • Thursday nights=The Pavillion Path
  • Friday nights=Pet store (Petco or Pet Supermarket)
  • Saturday night=Ponce Inlet dog beach
  • Sunday nights=Doris Leeper Park

Henry

We never set out to create such stringent routine, but that was just how things worked out. Young Henry was an adventurer. He hated going for the same walk every night. He want to go someplace new every night. His personal motto was, No repeats!

Blind Henry, while still an adventurer at heart, does better when he visits places he is more familiar with. The parks he goes to on a regular basis he can navigate extremely well. New parks take some time for him to figure out.

Knowing that Henry loves to change things up, but that he needs to go someplace familiar is how we fell into our routine. Except for morning walks, there are no repeat during the week. So each night is a fresh new adventure. However, we just keep repeating the same parks week after week, so that blind Henry has a clue of where he is walking.

It seems to be a good routine that accommodates both Henry the adventurer and Henry the blind pug.

Given our routine, if we have any stalkers out there you are pretty much all set now. grin

Henry looks ready to go. Does Henry go to the door by himse

I’m thinking Henry, the adventurer, likes the routine of familiarity as well, and now that he relies more on his nose, there are probably new adventures each time he returns to each spot.

As far as stalking, well if I could walk better, I might ask to tag along.  Is that still stalking?

Henry:  There 839 trees, 2,460 bushes, and 76,533 blades of grass at Doris Leeper Park.  On the left side of the main path.

I think there is a certain amount of comfort in a routine as you know what to expect…don’t want any panic in the pug:) Henry looks so cute peeking out the window…looks like he’s saying…“Let’s get this show on the road peeps!”

Sounds like a great schedule to me, and Henry must like it a lot!

And yes, all of will be seeing you soon at the park!!

You are safe from us: the 18 drive would make it impossible for us to stalk you!  LOL

Seems like Henry has his plan in place and is good to go. Thank goodness for distance-stalkers are closer to home-so Henry is safe from Grannygoogs,  a self proclaimed pug stalker. And me. P.S. Daisey’s loose as a goose issue has resolved by giving her the heart med in the am instead of the pm. Pug hugs from pastor sue & the Colorado 2

Susan glad to hear you have found a solution for Daisey.
