Old School

Sol

Whenever Sol does something a bit different from Benjamin, Henry & Luna, I always remark that she is "old school". Of course, now that I am sitting down to write this post, I can only think of one less than flattering example, but I will share it anyway.

When the pugs go out to go potty in the yard, Benjamin, Henry & Luna all sniff out a good spot to pee and then pee on the spot they were smelling. Sol however, likes to just smell the spot and pee at the same time, so she isn't actually marking the spot she smelled.

Now perhaps this is how most pugs do things. I don't know. My survey sample is only 4 pugs, so I could be off base here, but since she does things differently than the other 3, younger pugs, I always think to myself that she is old school.

Then the scenario plays out in my head that there is a whole generation of pugs out there, like Sol, that have their own way of doing things that differs from all those young, whippersnapper pugs of today. And I am sure all the younger pugs have it so much easier nowadays than the pugs of Sol's generation. After all, their walk to the dog park isn't up hill, both ways.

Oh, the things that run through my mind while I am waiting for the pugs to go potty! Have a good weekend, everyone.

Everytime I see a picture of Sol, I get a big smile on my face as she is so beautiful.
I have had 5 pugs and they all go potty like your 3 younger ones .

Sweet Solsie, there is nothing wrong with old school.  I am 67 and in many ways old school.  You just do your thing little girl.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.  I do believe we are out of the woods.  Romeo takes the last of his antibiotics today and hasn’t coughed since Wednesday evening.  Minnie must have had a very minor case as she hasn’t coughed since Wednesday either.  Yeah, great weekend I believe.

OBPuggers have yourselves a fantastic weekend.

My four year old pug, Reggie, likes to find an interesting spot to sniff while doing number two.  I always figured that this was the pug version of having reading material in the bathroom.

I think Sol’s trying to show the youngins how it’s done. You go Sol!
My Lucy sniffs out a spot, spins about 25 times, and then goes potty 3 feet from the spot she sniffed.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Mine does this sometimes…even if sometimes it means she accidentally pees on the sidewalk!

I have come to refer to this ritual as “the dance”.  My guy will single out his “spot”, sniff, walk around it, pee on it, sniff some more, walk around it again, perhaps in the opposite direction this time, may pee on it again or finally drop the load on the “spot”!!  It is hilarious!

Sue VDB:  Glad to hear that Romeo and Minnie are doing much better.

Have an awesome weekend everyone!!

Is it “old school” so much as super-efficient? She’s doing the sniffing and her business a same time! Why spend twice as much time? I think she’s actually a genius!
