Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty Food

Benjamin gazing at the cat's food bowl

Cupid the cat has the honor of eating on the counter of the little bar section of the kitchen.  She gets this distinction because she is the only four legged creature in the house that does not devour her meal in less than 5 minutes.  Instead, she likes to savor her meal and come back and nibble on it throughout the day.  I think her main reason for doing this is that it drives Benjamin crazy!  Benny will be walking by the bar stools and he will suddenly catch a whiff of the tasty cat morsels and he immediately does an about face.  He will stand there gazing upward and whine at the cat’s food all the while trying to will it to come to him.

Sometimes, I will catch the cat sitting off in the distance watching and listening to Benny throw his tantrum.  I think it is a highlight of her day.  She wakes up early, prowls around the pool deck in the screen enclosure, toys with some geckos, eats a little bit of her breakfast and then waits for the pug with the red harness to throw a tantrum over her food.  I think it is a bit of kitty prank.  It’s sorta like every day is April Fools day for her.

Well Miss Cupid, this is quite funny for you, isn’t it.  Being the lone feline, I supposed you are entitled to a little pug teasin’...lol

Even Cupid gets in on the fun action.  Poor Benny…can never get to the kitty food…how frustrating. What an entertaining household. How do you ever get anything done?

Bad Kitty-Kat! I’ve never understood animals that nibble on their food throughout the day!  Having pugs, it’s like a run away train getting to the food and then scarfing it down! Don’t worry Benny, one of these days your dream of cat food falling from the sky (or at least the bar)will come true.

That’s one of the great things about kitties…They are sooo independent and I think Cupid just loves a good pug prank.  Gotta watch those wiley felines!

I am crackin’ up over this one…

Cupid’s gotta have some fun, right??

A few years ago we kept my son’s cat for about two months for him when he moved.  And I know darn right well, that Ellie amused herself at Bennie’s expense more than once.

My Ellie has worked out a system with one of my cats, Schmoo.  My two other cats eat on the counter.  Schmoo jumps up and grabs a mouthful of food and jumps down onto the floor.  Ellie is waiting just in case some of that food happens to fall out of Schmoo’s mouth.  The pug vaccuum cleaner is ready and waiting!

Sleighbelle, this might make you (and others?) fall off their chairs…My two boys are “free feeders”...always have been.  Baxter and Riley have a bowl of food out 24/7…and they don’t eat it all in one fell swoop.

That was one of my proud accomplishments as pug momma, that I raised them knowing hunger so they wouldn’t gorge…probably had not a thing to do with me and my “rearing” though.  LOL

Heather, I can not believe that!  Baxter and Riley need to go into the “Pug Believe it or Not” museum!  I wish Sleighbelle would not devour her food, but at 10 years old, I’m thinking she is not going to change her ways!

Heather, what two unusual puggies you have.  They do not fit the norm of inhaling food.  I have one unused bedroom dedicate to the animals.  The petfood storage bins are on one table. One table is for Jassy and her special food, and another long table is for Frankie and his food at one end and the litter boxes at the other end.  The litter boxes have to be up so a couple of the dogs don’t eat it (ugghh, disgusting). The dog’s bowls are on the floor where they eat twice a day, and because Frankie will eat Jassy’s special food she gets feed twice a day and has adjusted quite nicely.  It’s a three ring circus around here.

Pug Believe it or Not Museum, Ha!!!  LOVE it Sleighbelle!!  I know it is quite the rare case, isn’t it?!  It’s funny b/c it does shock most when they walk in and see a full bowl of food and two pugs roaming around like it wasn’t even there…And I totally agree, at 10 years old they are quite set in their ways!

Sue, my goodness gracious do you have your hands full…between the different foods, and the cat, and the feedings!!  *giggle*

The one thing that is certain, we all know the idiosyncracies of our crews quite well…They sure have trained us well, haven’t they!

Mr. Skittles is like Baxter & Riley, he has food in his bowl and only eats when he wants to. There are days that it does disappear fast, and some days it will remain in the bowl for a good part of the day.

In our house, Cinder the cat gets fed twice a day in “her room” (my craft room). In the evening if she hasn’t finished her kibble the Pugs delite in polishing her bowl clean on their way to bed. You would think that she wouldn’ve learned long ago to finish her evening kibble, but most nights there’s a snack waiting for the lucky Pugs.

I couldn’t imagine leaving food down for C.J.  He eats (scarfs) twice a day, and each time spends another several minutes, lovingly lapping at his bowl and then Toeby’s, making sure that he has meticulously cleaned every micro-morsel.  Then of course, he wants treats…He and Toeby can both spell p-o-p-c-o-r-n and know exactly where to go for that (the microwave)!

Pugs are such funny little critters!
