Henry’s Big Adventure

Henry

We needed to make a run to the pet store last week to pick up some food for Cupid. Henry was a little fired up that night so I thought I would bring him. He had a blast in the car on the way there and he was loving life going up and down the aisles at the pet store. Ironically, he was most interested in the fish stuff.

Henry

After I pried him away from the fish display, we rounded up some cat food for Cupid and then made a stop in the dog bone aisle so Henry could pick out some bones for himself and his brother and sister. After some debate, Henry selected bacon and roast beef flavored edibles. I thought it was an interesting choice because the boys have not had those types of bones since they were pups.

Once we got back home, I gave the pugs the bones that Henry selected. Henry was of course happy with his choice and Benjamin was also pleased with Henry's selection. Luna, however, was not so happy with Henry's choice. In fact, she passed it right up and took a nap on the couch instead. So, this meant that Henry had a second bone for himself. Coincidence or good thinking on Henry's part?

On a different note, if you are in the FL area and you are interested in fostering pugs get in touch with Central Florida Pug Rescue. They have a lot of pugs in their care right now and are very much in need of foster homes.

Henry, you look so pleased with yourself.  That one-on-one must be a real treat for you.

Were you hoping that Mom and Dad would get you a pet fish?

Miss Luna, was your refusal part of Solsey’s lessons to you about being discerning?

I have read so many stories about pugs needing homes.  It is heartbreaking.  Hope CFP finds some really good foster homes for these sweeties.

Just spoke with my vet about the blood tests on Romeo.  He has low thyroid, which is easily treatable.  The bit problem is he has Cushing’s Disease.  He goes in early tomorrow morning for an all day test to determine if it is pituatary or adrenal. It explains a lot of things that have been happening, that are usually associated with aging.  In the last month he seems to have aged consideratly, a symptom.  He gained weight, and even though I have monitored his food carefully, he has lost only 2 lb.  He is more thirsty than usual, and I thought he might have diabetes, which he still could get as a result.  He has begun begging for food because he is always hungry.  He no longer jumps on the couch with me…I have to lift him up.  Cushings can also cause seizures and hind end weakness, which he recently had.  He has low energy most of the time.

Please keep Romeo in your prayers that the tests do not result in surgery, but can be treated with meds. I need my Romeo.

I just loooove this picture of Henry!  How sweet that he got to have an adventure all his own!

Maybe you should consider getting Henry an aquarium.  How cool would that be if your pet had pets!

Sue, my prayers are with Romeo and you both!

Henry, aren’t you just pleased with yourself.  I, too, think your choice for Luna’s treat might have an
ulterior motive…and, it worked! Remember, however, paybacks suck!

Sue VDB, I still have Romeo’s picture up in the computer room and will do some heavy, positive thinking for the little rascal.  I know nothing about Cushings Disease and am not sure what possibilities you and Romeo face so will do some research.  It’s the only way I know of to help and maybe will stumble across something that could help. I guess this is where we petition St. Francis.

Sue VDB:  Many prayers from Iowa for your Romeo.  Hate, hate, HATE it to have pug-babies ill.  May a simple, easy solution be found.  I, too, will do some reading and send all my positive, healing vibes your way.

Henry you are too cute going shopping!Hope you and mom found some good deals. Our Daisey-the Boston got a scratch on her eye just over the pupil we are hoping the meds will work their magic so she doesn’t loose her sight. Pug-hugs to all from the Colorado 5

Susan, sending up prayers for your Daisey that the meds heal that eye and quickly.

Terry, thank you for thoughts on Romeo.  No cure, but the throid med will help balance his thyroid.  There is no cure for Cushing’s.

This trip was pretty standard South Dakota fare, with stops at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, Al’s Oasis in Chamberlain, Wall Drug in (you guessed it—Wall), and the State Capital in Pierre, not to mention all the attractions of the Black Hills area.

The University of Glasgow Trust has many individual facets and research activities, and amongst these is the Beatson Translational Research Centre. The Beatson TRC will convert basic cancer research into real improvements in patients’ lives. It will specialise in the common tumours and those that cause the most deaths in Scotland such as endocrine (breast, prostate and ovarian); smoking related (lung, throat, oral) and gastrointestinal. Since the campaign was launched in the summer of 2007, over £2m has been pledged. The reason the campaign has been called The Beaton Pebble Appeal is because lots of small contributions will grow into something much bigger, so please donate your pebble via a donation to the University of Glasgow Trust.
