Henry Post Surgery

Henry

I am so happy to report that Henry is home and is doing very well. He was super happy to see us yesterday. Once he said hello, he marched right out of the vet's office and was scanning the parking lot wondering where we parked because he was ready to get home.

Once we got home, he made no bones about wanting to eat. We gave him a bit of food and he was ready for more. I thought it was a really good sign that his appetite was already back.

I think the hardest thing for him to manage has been the cone. His cone is catching on everything and when that happens he's not sure if it because of something he can't see or if it is because he has a satellite dish on his head. I'm sure in a day or two he will be doing much better getting around with the cone of shame. For now we are super glad he is home and doing so well.

Thank you for all your warm thoughts and kind wishes. It meant so much and was such a tremendous help in getting through these last few days. Have a great weekend!

Oh Henry, the dreaded cone of shame!  I just knew that would be the part you hated the most of this entire ordeal! I am sure that Benny and Luna are cutting you some slack and not laughing AT you in the cone, but more like laughing WITH you in the cone!
Corrine, I am so happy that Henry is doing so well.

I am so glad that yesterday went well!  God bless Henry and his sweet heart!  I’m sure you were relieved to see him, and then to have him get home and the only thing on his mind was to get something to eat!  A hungry pug after surgery is a very good thing!

Tell Henry I love him, and of course, he’s just as handsome as ever!  xoxoxo

Thankful to see Henry is doing so well! Corinne, we always use an inflatable collar, rather than the cone, and we LOVE it! It works as well as a cone for keeping their paws away from their faces and their mouths away from any other part of their bodies, but it’s SO much more comfortable for them! When they’re sleeping it’s like a built in pillow. I don’t inflate it all the way, just enough so that it creates an impediment but is still soft enough for them to rest comfortably. And when they mis-judge a doorway they just bounce off a little, it’s not a hard impact. (But we still can’t help laughing at them because they look so cute in their “donut”!)

Hooray for Henry! The cone of shame…it will also get you more treats! Don’t be surprised if the cone makes him seem more ‘off’ than normal…if he’s been compensating with his hearing (which he almost certainly has) the cone throws him for a loop in this sense. Once it’s off he’s gonna be so happy!!
