Gone Fishing

Benjamin on the table

Benny the food thief has struck again!  This time at dinner instead of breakfast.  Let me share with you what happened.

Last night for dinner we were having salmon on the grill.  So I go through my normal routine of getting the grill setup, turned on and preheated.  When I return to the grill with fish in hand, I discover that the propane tank has run out.  This is a pain, but not a big deal as we have a spare.  The pugs are in the house so I set the fish on the table in the screened-in lanai while I get the new propane tank.  I return with the new tank and get everything hooked up.  After the new tank is installed, I turn around only to find Benjamin standing on the table on the lanai eating the RAW fish!  I immediately scream out “BENJAMIN!”  He looks up, we lock eyes and he slinks off the table onto the chair.  He knows better than to do that.

My next thought is, “How did he even get outside?”  I thought he was in the house.  Apparently, Benjamin had slipped outside unnoticed while we were going in and out to get the new propane tank.  With everyone busy he thought he could grab some fish without anyone noticing him.

I had no idea, but I guess Benjamin likes sushi.

Oaky Benny, you can have my sushi. I don’t like it.

Every once in a while you get signs that pugs actually are descended from wolves in the wild.  LOL

We had a similar incident when we had company and everyone was milling around while I finished up coffee to go with the lemon merangue pie that was already on the table.  We walk back into the dining room to find Bennie with his face in the pie and merangue sticking to his chin…..

Could it be the name that influences this behavior?
