First Nap of the Day

Benjamin

This was the sight early Saturday morning shortly after Benny had breakfast and went potty. Luna and Benjamin are notorious early risers for breakfast. Given the fact that there are no morning persons in this household, no one is every happy when either Benjamin or Luna start to whine for breakfast.

But, I can totally see why Luna and Benny don't mind getting up early for breakfast. They eat, the go potty and usually they are fast asleep within 20 minutes. I wouldn't mind getting up early either if I knew I was going to be able to go back to sleep about 20 minutes later.

This sounds exactly like our household!  Minnie is the early riser and whines and the boys wake up.  After food, potty, it’s Nap Time! If only humans could go back to sleep….

I can relate with Benny… I am home recovering from surgery and I get up, have breakie, then not long after will have a nap…  I think I will join you Benny, nothing like a good nap!  smile

Your post is funny, Corrine.  It reminds me of a children’s book I have called “Ït’s Duffy Time.” (Audrey & Don Wood authors) It is about this pug who gets up, goes outside to go potty, then takes a nap before breakfast, eats breakfast, takes an after breakfast nap - well, you get the idea as he goes through the day.  (Yes, I buy children’s books if they have pugs in them, what can I say.)  This is an outstanding book because not only is the theme one every pug owner can identify with, the drawing/watercolor pages are amazing.  Luna and Benny must have read the book as well.  BTW, where is Henry in all this snoozing?

The way pugs nap is the stuff of legends!

Huckle, I buy children’s pug books, too!  And any other pug book I can get my hands on.  It’s a simple pleasure, isn’t it.

Benny, you amuse me.  Tell your mom that it’s ok to crawl back under the covers 20 minutes later.  Unless the day calls of course.

Something must be wrong with Lily.  She never has an appetite in the morning.  It takes her til 3 pm, sometimes later to finally finish her morning meal.  I think she is trying to tell me she doesn’t like dry kibble, and is wishing I would spice it up a bit with say, canned food, but she gets horrible diarrhea if she so much as has a nibble of canned food.  So, we stay with the kibble, much to Lily’s dismay.  I am thinking of switching her to Fromm kibble, my Abby was on that and loved it!

Well Mom, what do you expect on a Saturday morning?

Such a lovely idea Benny. I too, love naps. Love them. I relish in taking naps on Sat and Sun afternoons when my hubby is home. That way he can take care of the girls and I get my ‘me’ time. Bella joins me too of course. And she knows exactly what is going on when I bring her bed into my room. Her little tail goes so fast.

Pug Mama~I highly recommend Fromm dry kibble and or raw food for dogs. I feed Bella Primal Foods raw and it is so good for her. I bet Lily would love it too!

My early riser is my girl Wheezy. She whorls around the bed so no one can go back to sleep. As soon as breakfast and potty are done, they fall asleep on the couch while I read the newspaper and drink my coffee. Sometimes I join them.

Pug mama - I have given up trying to feed my three before 3-4 oçlock.  They will not eat any earlier, not one of them, which makes giving meds a bit hard at times.  If this is new behavíor for Lily, perhaps there’s a reason.  If not, perhaps she just doesn’t get hungry until then. Pugs like to control us, don’t they!
