Ear Cleaning

Henry cleaning Benjamin's ears

Henry is the resident ear cleaner at our house.  Rarely does a day go by that Henry does not inspect both Benjamin & Luna’s ears and if he finds anything he starts licking away.  He is rather diligent and his hard work really pays off.  It is rare that we ever need to clean Benjamin or Luna’s ears.

The only problem with Henry’s ear cleaning is he never flips Benjamin’s ear back into place.  So after a good ear cleaning Benjamin is left looking like this.

That is so cute!  What a good little helper Henry is.  Our little pug Maggie is also fond of ear cleaning.

My 4-year-old litter mates, Rocky and Adrian, are into cleaning eachother’s ears also.  Too bad that when they’re done, they can’t put the ear flaps down.  They walk around the house doing their bat imitations after a good ear cleaning!

It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it!

Neither C.J. nor Toeby is into the ear cleaning thing, so every 2 weeks when they have their bath, I use Epi-Otic solution from the vet’s office and flush them.  I just fill up the ear and massage and then blot with a washcloth.  You’d be amazed what comes out…C.J. used to get frequent ear infections but since starting this, infections are few and far between.  (Plus, his ears smell better and he’s not scratching and digging at them all the time.)
