Disappointment

Henry, Luna and Benjamin

The pugs are a little disappointed as of late. They have trimmed the tree and wrapped the presents, but there has been no sign or smell of all the yummy holiday treats that everyone talks about. They want to know where are the holiday feasts and yummy holiday desserts? When it comes time to get volunteers for help with all the holiday snacks, I know I will have 3 enthusiastic volunteers for that job.

One bag of doritos does not cut it, apparently!!
I’m sure the treats will start to pop up soon.  Hang in there puggers!!
What a cute trio, practising those sad “got treats??” faces.

Thinking of everyone and hope all is well… xoxo

What a pile of puggydom.  I would love to have them underneath my tree and wouldn’t even care if they opened their presents early.  In fact, they could open mine and I wouldn’t care.

My apologies for such a lengthy post yesterday.  I got carried away and didn’t know where to stop! :(

I know puggers, you’re not so much disappointed as you are just saving up your energy for when the treat making and baking gets underway!!

Abby doesn’t seem to be as happy with only getting the steroid once daily.  She is wheezing again, and her coughing flares up a lot at night.  Sigh.  Might call the vet again today.  I just know long term steroids isn’t what she needs either, so where is the happy medium?

What a great looking bunch. I would have to get on that pillow with all of you for some snorts and kisses. I’m sure the baking will begin soon puggers!

What does Cupid think of all of this?

Pug Mama ~ So sorry Abby is coughing on only one pill a day. Maybe your vet will have you give her only 1 and 1/2 pills. That might help a bit. How old is Abby?

Sue VDB ~ How is Romeo today?

Everyone else’s babies doing ok?

Hugs and prayers for all!

I love that the fawn pugs look like little naked beings when they don’t have their collars on.  This is SUCH a cute picture of brotherly/sisterly love!

Hmmm…maybe there’s something afoot.  Bennie and I are also wondering where the holiday treats are.  If Henry, Benjamin and Luna figure it out, please let us know!

Pug Mama:  I think Sue’s idea might work.  Or maybe you could split his one pill and give it 12 hours apart.  Kind of spread it’s effects out.

Sue:  I hope Romeo’s doing okay.

have been having trouble responding again, hope this works. Hope Romeo & Abby are starting to improve. The gang look very patient but I imagine that will change when the goodie baking time starts-after all, we all know who is better at quality checks than puggies? Benny, Henry and Luna, I think Mom has been super busy and maybe taking a little longer for the treats, but I know she will get there, and you will be 3 very happy puggies.

Seems I’ve been on the road the past three days.  In addition to my regular errands I’ve been running to get supplies for my grandson’s class party, and doing some last minute Christmas stuff that usually is already done.

Romeo is fine.  He had a little incident of pain yesterday that happened around med time, so he calmed down very quickly when the meds came.  After the Christmas classroom party Friday, there will be a quick lunch and then Romeo goes back for another laser therapy for the inflamation and acupunture for all his problems.  I do believe they help him.  If I could only keep him calmer, I’m sure that would help as well.
I’m hosting Christmas and I wonder how he will do.  He will initially be all excited and then calm down for the rest of the day.  It’s just the initiall people coming in that will be a problem.  A friend, I think, will be helpful.  He loves to rough house with Romeo, and Romeo soaks that up, but he is aware of Romeo’s condition and he will just pick him up, talk to him and pet him.  That should help…I hope.

Pug Mama, I continue to keep Abby in my prayers.  It is so difficult on us when these babies have problems.  We just want them to be well and happy.

Gina, any puggy updates?

Pug mama, have you tried cough syrup?  One Saturday night at 9:30 I called the vet (boy I bet they hate those calls) when Georgie was coughing without relief.  He suggested generic cough syrup at one teaspoon.  We ended up wearing most of it, but it did do a lot for his coughing which I was getting very nervous about.

Sue VDB, I’ve been doing some research online on canine arthritis and the laser treatment benefits.  It sure sounds as if you’ve got Romeo heading in the right direction.  Oh man, good luck with your Christmas family dinner.  I’m worn out just thinkiing about it.  Smooooches to Romeo.

Gina, my Abby is an older girl, she is due to be 14 in the end of January.  Her steroid dose (pills that her vet dispenses) are a half of an oblong pill at a time, so it would be hard to split that in half.  I can’t bear to think of losing her, though I realize that each one of these episodes brings us closer to that day.

Huckle, I never heard of giving cough syrup to a dog!!!  Really??  Tonight I am to give her both her cough pill and a sedative, so that may keep her more comfortable.  It’s just experimenting, one day at a time.  I need to get my humidifier up and running again too.

Pug Mama, with the different meds I’ve been giving Romeo, one of them was a whole pill I needed to split in half.  I’ve used pill splitters before with varied success. I now use a pair of scissors and it does the job beautifully.

The vet splits this oblong steroid pill in half before they send us home with them, so I think for me to try to split it in half again (a quarter pill) would just wind up with crumbles because it is so small to start with.  Abby is acting more comfortable tonight, I have the humidifier going now, and at bedtime she will get the cough pill and sedative, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she won’t be needing her steroid regimen mixed up.

Sue VDB ~ No pug news here. :( Still trying though. smile

pug mama ~ Sweet Abby. A pill splitter works great. I used to cut Pip’s with a knife. I never thought of scissors. Good to know Sue VDB. Or have your vet split them for you. My vet would do it if I asked. God Bless you and your sweet girl Abby. smile I hope she has a restful night. You too!

Oh My!!!! I have the real story on the beautiful three!!!  They are waiting for Gran Ma and all her treats!!!

Pug Mama!!! Our babies can drive us crazy when they are ill. Hopefully everthing will settle down soon for all our Puggie babies!!

Pug mama.  Yep human cough syrup but without some of the ingredients some cough syrups have…just plain old cough syrup.  Since Abby is already on a cough pill, you might want to check with your vet to make sure it wouldn’t be overload.

I do have and use (Georgie’s throid pill has to be split in half) a real cheap WalMart pill splitter.  It’s covered over so the pill won’t travel.

Hellen, I’m so glad you got to “talk” with Dakota.  I rather like that name, too.

Hi Sue VDB, I use a pill cutter to split Lilo’s benadryl tablet (it is oblong as well), i used to split it in half and then half the halves if that makes sense. It’s a coated tab, so might not have been perfect measure all the time, but was pretty darn close.

Cough syrup is a wonderful thing for all lol.  I love it both being a nurse, and when i am sick. I hope Abby gets some relief.  I also need to get a humidifier going, the one on my furnace doesn’t work, so i have a little tray over my heat vent in the kitchen.  Idk if it helps, but it makes me feel better.

I see my dear girl’s ear flaps are red, but haven’t seen any scratching, but might need to give her some burrow solution again.  She was particularly congested sounding the last day or so, so i’ve slipped her some benadryl again. (i thought when the snow and cold came, we could stop with this). may have to take her back to the vet after the weekend if this keeps up.

Love to all from Lilo N me, and the gas factory otherwise known as Tux

Looking for today’s post (it’s 9:30 now and no signs of Corrine) gave me opportunity to see just what a rotten speller I am the first time around.  Throid- sheesh.

Lilo N me, gas factory - love it.
