“Änd in my dream I was being chased by this humungous red ball, and it kept getting closer and closer…and I am so glad I woke up in time.  Could I have a puggey kiss?”

Julie, I am so sorry to hear about Darla.  Please know we all care and are thinking of you.

sue, let us know about Baxter’s test results when you get them.  Of course we are hoping for the best for you and him and will continue praying.

Huckle the vet called this morning the results came back all three are mass cells but a very low grade she checked with a oncoligest think I spelt it wrong and she said she thinks Baxter will keep getting them but does not recomend any treatment just keep removing them

He looks so worried. What a sweetie. Does he have a blanket on him or are those just his delicious wrinkles?

Sue, so glad to hear it isn’t cancer. God Bless!

Henry:  “Ohnooooo.  She’s getting a bath ready for us.”

Sue,  I’m glad for the news you got about Baxter.  It’s hard that he’ll keep getting them, but good that they aren’t a worse problem.

Sue, good news about the low grade, but I know you will worry every time he gets them. Vigilance is the key, and hope they do not occur often. ‘’

Thank you for the update.

sue, does Baxter have to be anesthetized for each removal?  Is there a reason he keeps getting them?  Are they genetic?  At least at this point, you must be feeling pretty good that this is manageable.  Now let me ask a question that may sound kind of dumb, but are they “mass cells” or “mast cells” like Benny had or are they the same thing?  I thought mast cells were cancerous but Benny seems to have proven that that isn’t so.  I don’t know what “mast” would stand for; “mass” seems more to the point.  Anyone else confused on this?  Not that it really matters; Good news is good news.

But, whatever, give sweet Baxter smooches from his fans on OBP and hug him and tell him how happy we are for him.

Huckle yes he has to be anesthetized to have them removed and they are cancer but this is the second time for him and luckly both times they have come back a very low grade my vet said pugs are more prone to them which my Abby has had them twice also but a low grade I am happy about them being low grade but a little nervous as the cancer doctor said he will probably get more my vet said next time she will just remove the mast cell and not make such a big inscion to get clean margins thanks for asking and caring

sue, this may sound nutty to you, but have you considered acupuncture?  In Georgie’s pincushion doctor’s office there is this cat that roams the place freely.  He said that when he got her, she was paralyzed.  He began acupuncture on her (and may have done other things - diet, etc.) and now she roams freely.  What a story.  The last time Georgie was there, the vet commented on how Georgie had become a different dog, not presenting any tracheal distress at all, no labored breathing and walking just fine. Sue VDB is also quite pleased with this type of vet care she did for Romeo. So, perhaps, acupuncture might be something you could try if you find a vet in your area capable of doing it.  Just sayin’...

sue, another question.  How often do these tumors present or do you have to keep checking him all the time.  Since Baxter doesn’t know what the concern is, he’ll probably like the extra massaging you do.

Please keep us up-to-date.

Yes, I am a huge fan of acupuncture.  A friend recommended this to me when Romeo was having big problems.  It did wonders for him.  I also had Minnie for whom acupuncture was wonderful.  I would never have thought of it if it wasn’t for my friend.

If you have a vet who practices acupuncture in your area, you might want to consult with him/her.

Huckle I check the whole gang six pugs and the two boxers and peke all the time for bumps and lumps Baxter got his first mast cell two years ago and what was weird Abby got hers the same time I will check with my vet about the acupuncture

Sue VDB and sue, I think this is like “pay it forward”.  I got the idea of seriously considering acupuncture from Sue VDB and try to encourage others to consider it as well.  The only problem seems to be finding a vet who performs the procedure.  I tried all over Toledo, Ohio, which is a big city and found none.  Then found the needed vet in a rural community in Michigan.  Isn’t that odd?

sue, do you live in a rural community?  I noticed that you seem to have, a-hem, quite a few canines!  Although, we have five so I shouldn’t say anything and we live in town.  I have been thinking for some time that I would like to foster an older pug or two but fear a neighborhood uprising.  That’s if my husband didn’t kill me first!

It seems the OBP blog is down today although the featured pug is working.  Nuts

Sue, I’m sorry I misunderstood and said it wasn’t cancer. :(  I’m glad that it is low grade though. Sue VDB and Huckle are very knowledgeable so I would try the acupuncture. Sounds like it does wonders. smile

Huckle I live in Tampa Florida its not rural
Had to bring Baxter back to the vet this morning the big incision was opening up and now is infected we don’t know ifthe pugs caused it as they keep trying to wash it for him so now he is on meds and has a bandage and a shirt he is not to happy about it either they put a cone on him and I ended up taking it off him as he was walking into everything have to bring him back tomorrow for a bandage change

Hi, I don’t have facebook so I don’t know all the stuff you’re talking about, but the last entry Sue made… the other pugs trying to wash the wounds for him.  My pug Grizwald gets ear fungus gunk, and Paisley my female is always licking on his ears, and he seems to like it but it’s not good!  They try to take care of each other, God Bless Them, but it just makes the infection worse.  Good luck - you are doing a great job going the mile for your pug!  I went the mile for Kingsley my paralyzed pug and I loved every minute of it and would do it again and again if I had to.  Take care, - kindness to animals is such a beautiful thing.
