Cupid:  You are feeling veddy sleepy my curly-tailed friend.

SUE VDB:  Just read your post about Minnie and wanted to let you know how really sorry I am for you and your other fur-babies at home.  No matter what or when - it’s just hard to say Goodbye - even if it’s really just, “So Long For Now”.  (Dale Evans singing “‘Til We Meet Again” always made me cry - just so poignant.)  But, as GINA and so many others have said:  you are a Valiant and Loving Caregiver to every animal that crosses your path and I so admire you for never turning away for fear of a loss or heartache to come.  You’re Something Special, you are!

HELLEN:  Sending my best wishes to you as well - that your injured leg gets fixed up good as new.  Please let us know how you’re getting along.

Cupid says, “from this sitting position, I can make a 2.0 landing right on Luna’s head.  that will teach her to lay on my rug.”

Said like Newman and Jerry from Seinfeld, “Hello Newman. Hello Jerry.” (Sorry. Sounded better in my head.)

Sue VDB~ How are you doing?

Hellen~ how is your leg? I hope it’s healing well.

Pug Hugs to you all from Bella & me.

Thinking about you Sue VDB.  We all care so much.

GINA:  I think the Seinfeld and Newman take was spot on - as was SLEIGHBELLE’S 2-point landing and the bit about “laying on MY rug”.  Cats are nothing if not territorial.

Anyone watch 20/20 last week which showed people who put cameras on their cats so they can see what/where they get into when they go out?  Was happy to see the one lady put a bell and a bib on her cat to interfere with its hunting.  I never thought of that with my old tom-boy . . . I just stopped filling the bird bath and feeders when I had him.  But just try to keep him inside all the time!!!  Would’ve had to pull one of us off the ceiling.  I love them though - they are a force to be reckoned with.

If I stare at you long enough you WILL get off MY rug.

Dear OBP family, thank you so much for your kind words.  I don’t think I am any more special than any of you, but your thoughts and prayers mean the world to me.  I take great comfort in them, as well as the fact that Helen and Minnie are reunited.  I was priviledge to be a caregiver to Minnie.

Hellen, please give us an update on your leg.  We care, and wish you the best.  I am saying prayers for you.

Mary, I did see that 20/20 report!  Craziness.  Can you imagine trying to put a camera on a pug?  I know that my Sleighbelle would be a statue, rendered helpless to walk!

Minnie, rest in peace precious one. Sue VdB, I am so very sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Cupid does remind me of the cat on 20/20.

Sue VDB, so sorry for your loss, thinking of you.

Hellen, get well soon. Your leg has to get better so you can chase your babies around.

Sue VDB, I looked up a comforting poem I had found in our paper (hope no copyright issue) and wrote it out when Romeo was so ill and Gina’s Pip passed.  I found the words and thoughts comforting and possibly you will as well.  This poem is for all of us who have lost pugs or their brothers and sisters as well.

“Request From Rainbow Bridge”
by Constance Jenkins

Weep not for me though I am gone
Into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul’s sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul’s at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

Hmmmmm, I’m contemplating this assignment.  The cat is watching me…..I’m pretending to sleep so I have to make sure I snore…..hmmmmmm what to do…..I can scare the cat but the cat can outrun me…..hmmmmm, zzzzzzzz - there’s only one thing to do…..zzzzzz .... zzzzzzzz… and think some more….

That poem has me in tears. Missing my Riley baby so desperately.

That line:  “please do not dwell upon my death, but celebrate my life” really helped me to move away from my grief when I said “so long” to my Molly (Lhasa Apso).  I was able to be happy, knowing she and I had enjoyed nearly 10 years together.  (She was 5 when I brought her home from our Shelter.)  She ruled the roost (and my heart) and we were both happy w/that arrangement.  My pug, Bella, is such a different personality - so docile and shy.  These relationships we have with our animal friends are every bit as complex, rewarding and life-changing as our 2-legged pals, aren’t they?

Why can’t we be friends?

I love the poem! My daughter is a veterinarian and at her clinic when they have to euthanize a client’s pet they take a paw print in clay and give it to the client with this poem. A sweet remembrace and a caring touch. I tell her not to be ashamed of crying when she has to do “the bad thing” because it shows she cares for her clients and patients. Pug hugs to all!
