Benny : Okay, everybody comfy, this time I’ll be the guardrail so no one rolls off the couch. Next time we rotate okay?, Okay, Henry, Luna? Okay guys?

Henry & Luna : OKAY!
( kind of like Alvin and the chipmunks)

Gina I thought your mission impossible comment was very clever. (otherwise I might have thought maybe watching for spiders, spaceships, or random flying Cupids).

Well Tux continues to be a challenge (that or I’m gonna be gettin to think one of the two of us is challenged!). All my kids have 4 paws, and correct me if I’m wrong, but i think its the same with the 2 legged variety, that if it’s too quiet in the house, that’s when you know they’re up to no good.  Well true to form today Tux had been the heat seeking tissue seeker and shredder. I have no idea where he was getting them from as some of them weren’t even wrinkled (fresh outta the box) and he can’t reach them. So we spent a fair bit of time playing that game off and on this afternoon. (yesterday was the same game but with the fabric softener sheets from the laundry).

Well he settled and had a nap and later on around 5-5:30pm, all i can smell is garlic. Not a faint smell. Just a real good whiff of garlic. Really odd I thought as I was home alone with the dogs and I’m sitting in the living room. Again I can totally smell garlic, and before I write it off to me having a stroke I decide to go down and flip some laundry.  I don’t know how I missed it heading downstairs. When I came back up and entered the kitchen all i could smell was garlic and with little investigation I found my source. Tux had managed to get ahold of one of those Knorr powdered creamy garlic pasta sauce mix packages and tore it open, obviously licking some of it up as when I went to clean it some was literally stuck to the floor.

Let me tell you, a pug with garlic breath, is a whole other beast of its own!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Love and pug hugs from Lilo n Me n Tux.

This one made me chuckle…Nothing better than a pile of pugs to start the day!

GWEN:  Tux may have a little Italian in him.  A little garlic is a good thing - but you’re right - doggy breath with a garlic overlay could be a little tuff to handle.  Guess the whole fam will have to likewise indulge to tolerate him!
When Bella was a puppy, everytime I would her alone in a room where she felt she couldn’t follow me (to go to the bathroom or take a shower), she would get in my usual chair and find some paper or tissue and would chew it up and leave the mess in the chair.  A little separation anxiety maybe - but it didn’t seem to last longer than a few months.  I sometimes miss her little ornery ways now that she’s a mature lady-pug. But it can be a little scary to make sure they don’t chew and eat something that could make them sick.  A friend had a pug who managed to get into the garbage one day.  They smoked and their pugger must have eaten some cigarette butts along with whatever else he scavenged and it killed him.  I was soooo very sorry for them.  Another friend had a pug who licked some creosote from a utility pole and it killed him.  Pugs - espec. puppy-puggies - seem to want to put everything in their mouths like all babies I guess.  I just always kept this in mind when walking Bella and when we were at home - to keep everything up, up, and away from her inquiring little mug.

The pug army. Always ready. For what no one knows to eat to sleep. Be careful with your pug. God loves them so much he wants them all home with him. Keep the pug away from the whiskey and cigarettes. They kill pugs to. My pug would find dust ball in our house. We kept a clean place but the pug could find anything she was not suppose to find. The dust balls were her treat. A little salt and pepper and yum yum down the tum. I still miss her. My pug died over four years ago of old age. I STILL LOVE HER.

Gwen, I’m sure Tux is ok, but watch the garlic thing.  I don’t remember now exactly what the toxin in garlic is, but it can be bad for dogs.  I probably should have researched this again to give you a more complete answer on how it can affect dogs.

Sounds like you have a full time job on your hands with Tux.

Sue VDB, I think you’re right about the garlic.  I’ve read that too and yet they put garlic in the dog food?

Another bad one are the fabric softener sheets.  Just read that the other day.

Mary, Lilo was the same way. I used to have a habit of bringing my mail in and setting it on the top step of the entryway when I came in. After opening my mail for me more than a few times I learned my lesson, but she would do the same with any paper product she could find. I often thought of changing her name to Shredder during that first year!  I think there is something about pugs that makes it such a game as well. I had a friend come home with her groceries and she went about unpacking them. Well she had also bought the Costco pack of toilet paper. When she found him down the hallway, Auggie had already opened up the big bag they came in. Thank goodness for individually wrapped rolls lol.  I just can’t believe your Bella let you go about your daily business without her. I always have a lookout in Lilo lol.

Wayne - so sorry to hear of your loss. Have you considered sharing your love and devotion with another pug?

Sue - totally aware of all those good things that doggies can’t have. Sometimes garlic is in things and I’m sure in large enough quantities could be very bad, but I have heard onions are way worse. We have cut out a lot of things we used to buy just to keep the house pug-proof such as grapes, macadamia nuts, raisins and so on. Of course, where there’s a will, there’s a Tux!!!  He is totally a handful, and he’s my brothers dog not mine!!!  He’s so not allowed to have children after this (my brother).  We went through the garlic/onion thing when Lilo was just about a yr old. On the drive home from visiting relatives I dozed off. Well low and behold we got home that night and my girl had diarrhea like crazy and vomiting.  I found out daddy had shared his Hot Rod (kinda like a slim Jim), and honey garlic sausage on the way home.  Luckily she didn’t need to stay overnight but she was off of food for around a week. Stupid boy lol.

Huckle I have heard they even give garlic supplement for arthritis in dogs so idk what’s correct. The good news is he’s no worse for wear today. The vet was actually more concerned about the salt content in the package than anything else.

Well off to sleep if Lilo grinding her rawhide bone doesn’t keep me up.  Thanx for all your input, and concern. Totally love this group

Pug hugs to all and prayers for all those puggies and their people who aren’t quite up to snort!

Oh boy, what a hard day we’ve had.
Yeah, we actually had to get out of bed to come get on the couch.

Gosh, Thanks mom… It sure was nice of you to buy us this big doggie bed. But I thought ypu told Daddy you were going out to buy a couch… Where’s the couch at Mommy ? Is it going to be delivered later by the store?
(I just bought a very nice couch the other day for our new home and when we brought it home, our 3 jumped up on it and staked claim to their spots, before any of the rest of us even got to try it out. It was like they knew it was especially bought for them and our furniture would be there later. Sookie our senior pug was at one end, Mylasia the baby on the middle cushion and My Boy Buddah on the other end, laying on his back, legs spread wide with no shame. This so reminds me of that day…LOL We’ll needless to say, the store never delivered “ours”...And after spending all that money, we still have no where to sit..Guess I’ll go out this weekend & buy a big Doggie bed…I sure hope to find one that “I” will be comfortable sitting in.)

prettypugsx3, funny story about the couch, but a true one.  These kids are always the very first to test out the new chairs.  Love your comment about the doggy bed.

Thanks SueVDB, We know our pugs all too well. If they sit on it, it’s theirs - if they see it, it’s theirs - if they want it, it’s theirs - even if they don’t want it, it’s still theirs…everything is theirs, including this world, it’ a pugs world and they just allow us live in it… LOL they know they have us wrapped around their lil’ paw…But theirs no where else I’d rather be.. Gotta love’m. (the doggie bed was a joke but truthfully, I would more likely sit in it before either of them. LOL

Lol prettypugsx3, I often say that Lilo has the biggest dog bed ever! I got it at Costco this past spring. It’s a queen size so I have to make sure I don’t take any more than my allotted space. I’m just thankful she lets me sleep with her.

prettypugsx3

03/13/2012

yeah, be sure not to take no more space than allowed- don’t wanna upset our masters…LOL. Since I have 3, theres not much room left for me, but they usually let me squezze in somewhere ( most of the time 1/2 of me is hanging off the side of the bed and the other 1/2 is hanging on for dear life.)
