Anyone know if belly bands, male wraps, etc. cures an errant male marker or just manages it? I may have to kick Georgie in the slats with the new cowboy boots I had to buy because of Karen’s “get along little doggies” that was driving me nuts that day.
Actually I would appreciate anyone’s input on belly bands. I had ordered Georgie several just after we got him but they were about an inch too wide so now I got the bright idea of shortening them with safety pins (“Yippee ki-yay” if they open) now that I’ve decided in desperation to try them. Georgie’s problem (or, I guess my problem) is that he marks EVERY vertical surface in the house. Outside he only marks Abby.
Huck, I feel your pain…C.J. has one spot in the house he always marks…my solution is to tape a potty pad on the vertical corner surface. Now he raises his leg at least it hits the pad…
Sorry about that “doggies”/cowboy boot thing!
Maybe you should just leave him outside with Abby!! LOL

Karen, I can see you trying to explain to sudden guests just why you have potty pads taped to vertical surfaces! 
It’s an idea to try but Georgie marks just everywhere unlike C.J. with one spot. Funny as that is, I think it’s worth trying. We certainly have potty pads galore from Cooper (not that he still doesn’t need them). It’s odd to me that Cooper2 doesn’t mark but he was neutered right after we got him and I think (from his records) that Georgie was about three when neutered. That must be the difference.

I made belly bands for my daughter’s dog and her roommate’s. I measured their girth and then the distance between the front and rear leg. I bought 2 inch velcro to attach them. If they still pee with it on you can put a pad inside but our boys didn’t hike with it on… It’s a guy thing…
Thought of a new one: “I just licked the water. Is my tongue blue?!?”
Huck, try directing him to just one corner and doing the NOOOOOOO thing, maybe you can retrain him to at least only destroy one area…If he knows the padded spot is the only place he’s supposed to lift his leg maybe he’ll catch on…Best of luck, these little guys can be soooo stubborn. At least my wall is protected in C.J.‘s one spot!
Marynell, did you use elastic at all? I’ve seen them with elastic but think that might bunch up. Guess I’ll have to find the 2” velcro. Thanks.
Karen, now that’s an idea, too. His joy seems to be to mark absolutely every surface he can. I wonder why he’s doing it now after all these months? He didn’t do it before and I can’t think of anything that’s changed to trigger his marking.
Huck, he may be jealous of the other doggies or maybe just because he thinks he can…you know how they can be!
