For Christmas, the pugs each got a new collar and leash set. Most of the time, especially when we are out and about, the pugs wear their harnesses, but around the house, in the yard and on short potty breaks just right around the house we sometimes let them wear collars to change things up.
Santa brought Henry the Best Friends collar and leash. I really liked it because it is made of hemp and organic cotton which makes it super soft right from the beginning. Plus, the paw prints and the footprints side-by-side is just too cute.
Luna got one of my favorites, the Curly Q collar along with the matching leash. As soon as I saw this collar, I thought of little Luna. To me, it just fits her personality perfectly!
And Benny got the Geometric Squares collar and leash. Benjamin has such a light colored coat, I just knew this collar would pop on him. He has so many wrinkles and so many skin rolls around his neck that it is really easy for a collars to get lost on him.
Since the collars and leashes are not edible, these definitely weren’t the highlight of the pugs’s Christmas morning. But, overall, I think they like them. I do at least!

Wow! What a week! I don’t even know where to start! I guess, I will start with Christmas was wonderful and we enjoyed a nice relaxing week visiting with family and friends.
Since Benjamin, Henry & Luna slept most of last Christmas morning, Santa took it a little bit easy this year. It’s not that they didn’t get plenty, trust me, it was just that we didn’t go overboard. Plus, with all the gifts they get from family and friends they are totally overstimulated.
First, each of the pugs got a new collar and leash. We picked out a special design for each of them and they were all wrapped up in their stockings. While we were quite pleased with the gift it didn’t go over quite that well with the pugs. It was like giving underwear to a 4 year old. Totally not what they wanted. Hopefully, I should have some pictures of them sporting their new collars soon.
They each got plenty of plush toys and Luna seemed to get most excited about these. After we opened each one, she would take it and shake it causing it to fly out of her mouth. She would then have to tromp through all the wrapping paper to find it and then she would shake it all over again.
The boys were holding out because they know that Santa always delivers a good bone and this year Santa did not disappoint. Each pug got a specially filled marrow bone. And Benjamin & Henry spent the rest of Christmas Day chewing their bones and trying to get the yummy filling out of the middle. Benny worked on it so long, that he rubbed his lip raw! So needless to say that the bones had to go away for awhile. At least until Benny’s lip heals. So, Benny got a little something extra from Santa this year - a fat lip.
After all the unwrapping and chewing on Christmas, the pugs were pretty tired. Henry passed out on the sofa and enjoyed a peaceful Christmas night.
There is so much else to share. Santa also brought Benjamin, Henry, Luna & Cupid a doggie door. After installing it, I got one of the best ab workouts of my life laughing so hard at the pugs trying to learn how to use it.
Stay tuned! There is a lot more to come! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and have a safe and happy new year this evening!

The stockings were hung from the entertainment center with care…
We don’t have a fireplace, so each year we carefully hang the stockings from the entertainment center. When we built the house, we still had northern blood and we thought including a fireplace in the house was just the funniest thing. Why on earth would people in Florida need a fireplace, we laughed. Now that we have acclimated a bit, and anything under 70 degrees seems pretty chilly, there have been nights when we have thought that fireplace might come in handy.
In any case, the entertainment center has served us well and proudly displays everyone’s stockings. Leading up to Christmas, we tuck any little presents that we pick up into the stockings. However, treats do not go into the stockings until Christmas morning. We wouldn’t want Baby Benny to get a crick in his neck from staring up at the stockings willing the treats to come to him.

Well, Wednesday was a trip to the ophthalmologist for little Luna. The hope was that she would have a clean bill of health and not need to go back until April 2008. While we were told that Luna’s eyes look the best the vet’s ever seen them, Luna will need to go in for a re-check toward the end of February instead of April. Luna’s medication had been irritating her eyes so the vet changed her medication schedule, doses and prescriptions to find just the right balance to maintain Luna’s eye health. Thus, we need to go back sooner to make sure that the new regimen is right for her. We’ll take the good news, though in exchange for the need for an earlier follow-up appointment.
We also took the opportunity to leave them a 2008 OBP calendar and brag a little bit about how the boys just won the Halloween photo contest on the petsource.com website. So, it wasn’t a bad visit at all.
Really the worst was the wait time (which is never more than 10 minutes) but was over an hour this time. They were packed. Guessing due to it being the day before Thanksgiving, everyone was trying to get everything done before they would be closed for a few days straight. In the waiting room was an eclectic crowd. There was an 18 year old Siamese cat named Neptune that was actually from right around the corner from where we live. There was a dog that was a German Shepard/Corgi mix. Let me tell you, that is an odd mix! There were a couple of Yorkies that were big for their breed. There was a Chihuahua that had not been neutered and was trying to let everyone in the room know that he was the “boss.” There was a really old and completely blind retriever and a Jack Russell terrier that had some vision troubles, too. So, at least there was a lot to see and talk about during the long wait.
We had a lot to be thankful for over the holiday. All the pugs are in good health. The cat is, too. So, no complaining here. We hope the holiday found you and your family in good health, as well.

Warm pumpkin bread And piping hot turkey Smooshy bananas And tough chicken jerky Slippery noodles that look like they’re strings These are a few of our favorite things!
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Owned by Pugs! We are thankful for everyone that drops by each day to catch up with Benjamin, Henry & Luna! Be safe and have a great holiday!
