Thanksgiving is a big travel holiday, but we decided to take a little trip to Maryland just before the holiday season officially kicked off. We had an important event to attend and thought it would be cool if Benjamin and Henry had a chance to visit where they grew up and it would be awesome to see what Luna thinks of Maryland. So since the pugs were coming with us, the only way were were going to get there was by car.
The boys have made the trip from Maryland to Florida on 4 different occasions, so they are old pros. However, we were a little concerned because they haven't made the trip in a little over 8 years. Luna does great in the car so we weren't worried about the long drive. We were more concerned with how she would handle the weather. Luna thinks that Central Florida is Antarctica and Maryland would be as far North as she has ever traveled.
But the pugs did not disappoint, they did fantastic on the long drive. They slept in the car and did great during pit stops. Their favorite stops were the ones when they ate. We would pop the trunk, get their bowls from the cooler and set them up next to the car. They would chow like they were at home in the kitchen.

Every day when I come home from work the pugs greet me in the garage. After their greeting and the obligatory lunch bunch inspection, we just hang in the yard. Given the weather right now, it is usually under a shade tree, but it is an extremely peaceful time of day and a great time to catch up with the pugs.

Last Saturday was a super hot day. The pugs went out a few times in the middle of the day, but they didn't last long in the blazing sun. Warm days like that typically bring a good evening storm. And on Saturday night, the pugs got to enjoy time outside as the storm was blowing in. The clouds shielded the sun and there was a nice, cool breeze.
Its not even officially summer and the pugs are already taking advantage of any respite they can get from the FL heat.

Things are hot enough here in FL that we have been jumping in the pool to cool down the last few weeks. We got new rafts this season as our old rafts had about as much sun and pug fun as they could handle. The pugs designated Henry to be the official raft tester and I think he is giving a thumbs up for this one. He looks as if he is about to fall asleep, so I would say this one is pretty comfy.

Last Friday night, Henry got to go to a Daytona Cubs game. The cubbies are a minor league team and host a Bark at the Park night a few times each season. Benjamin and Luna have been to a game as well, but they didn't have as much fun as Henry. There is a lot of action going on at the games and neither of them were too fond of the bleachers or the steep steps leading up to their seats. So, when Bark at the Park night came around this year, we thought we would make it a special Henry only adventure.
I think Henry remembered his previous trips to the ballpark because as soon as we arrived at the stadium, he made a beeline for the concession stand. He was even lucky enough to see a concession worker that remembered him from a previous year! Needless to say, he scored more than a few tasty treats.
Henry also got to meet Cubby, the Daytona Cubs mascot. A lot of the dogs don't really know what to make of Cubby and tend to bark at him, but Henry played it cool. He was sort of like, "Hey, what's up?". Then when he realized that Cubby's big paws were functional petting hands, him and Cubby were fast friends.

Does this look like 3 pugs that are trying to go potty?
We took the pugs out to go potty on Saturday before we ran a few errands and the weather was so nice, that the pugs decided to hang out in the yard rather than potty. It was a bit windy out, which Benny loves because it brings all the smells to him. He will just lay there and his little smeller is working overtime. Luna was a little annoyed with the wind. It kept blowing her ears, and she wasn't too pleased with that. Henry was loving life and it's a wonder we ever got him to come back in the house before the sun set.

I wish every park we went to had a doggie water fountain. It is super convenient and it allows the pugs to rehydrate in the middle of their walk. Plus, it means I can leave the water in the car and don't have to lug it on our walk since I know there is a fountain nearby.
The funny thing is that Benny was afraid of the water fountain the first few times he encountered it. Luna wasn't too keen on it either. They kept waiting for it to fill up like a water bowl and wanted me to turn the fountain off before they started to drink. I guess they didn't want the fountain to splash on them, which is hysterical if you have seen either one of them at a regular water bowl. Both of them are super messy drinkers and Benny inevitably drags his neck wrinkles in the bowl.
Henry loves the fountain as it gives him a chance to channel his inner big dog. He doesn't drink from the bowl part, instead he drinks straight from the fountain.
