It is a drive to the "special vet", so Benny and Luna usually sleep for most of the car ride. On the trip for Benny's last follow up appointment, Benny was having a little bit of trouble getting comfortable. After some tossing and turning this is how it settled. Go figure!

Don't let the grumpy look on Benny's face fool you, he is feeling much better! As soon as his antibiotics started to kick in we could see a big change. Now after taking his full dose of meds, Benny is back to his normal goose honking self.
We are very relieved that Benny is feeling better, he had us quite worried there for a bit.

Over the years, the boys have come across some interesting things on their walks. When they were pups, it was way worse because anything they found they tried to eat. Now, they are a little bit more selective. Key words: little bit.
Of everything they have ever found, Henry takes the cake for stumbling across a whole peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Henry found the sandwich on a hike in Maryland. It was slightly off the trail and I had never seen Henry get so excited about one of his finds. Unfortunately, we didn't let him eat it, because what is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich doing on the side of a hiking trail. But, even though Henry did not get to enjoy his spoils he still held the title of best food find while on a walk.
Henry has held his title for 10 years now, but last week, Benjamin finally earned his own set of bragging rights when he came stumbled across a peanut butter and jelly sandwich of his own on his morning walk. Benny didn't get to eat the sandwich he found either, but he was so excited to tell Henry that he isn't the only one that has found a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Of all the things that we have ever found on a walk, never once did I think that we would find another pb&j sammy.

Benjamin also suffers from trachea issues and has a nice goose honk cough. However, last week, Benny's goose honk cough took a turn for the worse and got very wet sounding. It also became much more chronic. Benny also became very lethargic. With his normal cough, Benny still goes on about his business, coughing all the way. With this new sounding cough, Benny was wiped out!
Knowing this was an upper respiratory issue, we skipped our regular vet and headed straight to the specialist. After waiting for chest x-rays we had our diagnosis - pneumonia.
Benny has been on antibiotics for a few days new and he is getting back to his normal goose honking self. I'm hoping we can totally kick the pneumonia so this condition does not keep recurring.

Sometimes the pugs amuse themselves in the silliest of ways. The other day I was cleaning out the trunk, and Benjamin, Henry and Luna were dancing around my feet acting like they wanted to get in the trunk. There was nothing the pugs would find interesting in the trunk, but they were adamant about getting in the trunk. So, I picked them up and put them in. They had a grand ole time, sniffing around and being nosey. Go figure!

When I am working in the kitchen, I always feel like I am moving the pugs because they are in my way. When dinner is being made the pugs are always sitting on the black rugs in the kitchen supervising me. When I need to get in the pantry one of them is usually on the rug in front of the pantry door. The same goes for the fridge or when I need to open the oven door.
After looking at this picture, I see that it's totally my own fault. The rugs are all in front of things that I need to use. I bet if I lined the rugs up down the center of the kitchen there would be no pugs in front of the things I needed to access. Silly me. Clearly, the pug are not going to lay on the, gasp, tile floor!

The pugs are crated while we are away. When we get home, they are usually anxiously waiting at their crate doors to greet us. But, sometimes we are able to sneak in the house without them hearing us and we can catch them sleeping soundly. It is the sweetest thing to come in the house and hear all 3 of them snoring away. The pugs, on the other hand, don't like it when we make it back into the house without them knowing. Henry likes to pretend that he doesn't sleep while we are out. I'll keep these pictures around as proof that some little puggy sleeps quite soundly while we are out.
