Benny Snoring
The other day, I enjoyed a work from home day and Benny serenaded me while I worked.

Like most pugs, Benjamin, Henry and Luna despise getting their nails trimmed. A few years ago, we started using a dremmel to grind the boys' toenails. We tried using it on Luna, but she hated it even worse than the regular nail trimmers, so we still use the clippers for her.
While the boys tolerate the nail grinding they certainly don't like it. Just look at Benny's face. He could not be more perturbed.

To say Benny is a creature of habit would be an understatement. He loves his daily routine. One of his more exercised rituals happens after he eats his dinner. Benny gobbles down his dinner then lets himself out through two doggy doors to go potty in the yard. After that he comes in the house, goes to his crate, gets puffy and then brings it to us. We make a fuss over how nice puffy is and then Benny settles in his dog bed and falls asleep completely content with himself.
And to be honest, I love that Benny is set in his ways. Because having him bring me his puffy and then watching him fall asleep such a happy boy is always a highlight of my day.

I posted last week about Benny's impressive fur growth spurt after we started him on some new meds. Here is more information on the magic little pills that we started him on:
Free Form Snip Tips
A Free Form Fatty Acid offering maximum potency of EPA and DHA.
Omega-3's for Small Dogs and Cats
We purchased these from our vet. I believe they were sold as a supplement and a prescription was not required. They have worked wonders for Benjamin for his fur issues. Take a look at his fur patch now (and Luna photobombing the shot).
As with anything, talk to your vet about these before you start giving them to your pug.

I always wondered why the pugs would perch so precariously on the edge of the bed. They could have an entire king size bed to themselves and they will all be crowded into the bottom corner. (Key words in the last sentence is to themselves. If there are humans in the bed, the pugs are not huddled in one corner, but instead sprawled out in positions that will take up the absolute most room on the bed and make it impossible for anyone else to get comfortable )
But, then it dawned on me that that corner on the bed is the only one with an unobstructed view into the living room. That's the spot on the bed that is "ocean front". The rest of the bed can barely be categorized as "ocean view".

Body in bed, head hanging out of the bed has been Benny's preferred sleeping method for quite some time now. However, I snapped this picture because of the way Luna and Benny are positioned.
If you spend extended amounts of time with Luna you will quickly learn that she is very gassy. The special kidney food she eats gives her the ability to clear any room. Given Benny's proximity to Luna's rump, it appears as though Luna has cut one of her super potent stinkers and Benny has simply passed out from the smell. Seems far fetched, but if you are ever caught downwind of Luna you would know it could happen.

"If you build it, he will come."
If there is a pile of pillows, you can bet that Benny is on them! Sometimes, when I am fluffing or straightening the pillows, Ben will be pacing and impatiently waiting for me to finish so he can lay on the pillows. The boy has never met a pillow he doesn't like!
