Today's flashback is from February 2006.
This picture is from Luna's first trip to DogWood Park in Jacksonville, FL. The park is a huge private dog park that the pugs just loved. Luna's first visit was a little rough because she accidentally walked into the lake. She was chasing her brothers and she thought the lake, was more like a puddle that she could run across it. By the time she got to the middle, she had a good idea that the water was a little deeper than she had anticipated. She swam out of the big puddle just fine and we toweled her off and got her a sweater to keep her warm until she fully dried off.
Here is also a shot of the boys playing on the same trip. As you can see, Henry has a hold of Ben's face. The boys played so rough when they were pups and Henry always loved to grab Benny by his luscious wrinkles and drag him about.

This photo is from August, 2003
When the boys were pups they burned off a ton of puppy energy at playgrounds. They would chase each other around the playground, up the equipment, down the slides. Their energy was boundless!

Luna vs The Monkey from obp on Vimeo.
This video is from 2007
Luna loved to play with this squeaky monkey toy, but as soon as it squeaked she would stop playing with it. We were always surprised she liked to play with it because it was about as big as she is.
Until recently we still had the toy. But we made the mistake of letting Monroe play with it and as soon as she picked it up she ran off into the woods with it and hid it. We went to look for it, but could not find it anywhere.
So Luna's squeaky monkey is hanging out somewhere in the woods. I always think that one day I will be out walking the pugs and I will hear the monkey squeak off in the distance.

This flashback is from November, 2003.
Not only did Henry have a favorite cat toy, Benny had one as well. Benny's favorite was plastic cylinder with a toy mouse inside. The mouse was on an elastic string inside the cylinder. The string was shorter than the cylinder so you had to get a hold of the mouse and pull it to get it out of the cylinder.
Benjamin obsessed with getting that mouse out of the plastic container. He would contort his body in hopes to get a better angle.
He would peek through the holes in the sides in hopes of figuring out a new plan of attack.
But most of the time, he would try to shove his flat put nose in the cylinder and try to grab hold of the mouse.
If only he had a snout!

Today's flashback of Henry is from November, 2003
Cupid had this toy that looked like a little hamster. The toy had a pull string on it and when you pulled it the toy would vibrate and move around on the floor. Pretty standard stuff for a cat toy and while it peaked Cupid's interest from time to time, she wasn't all that impressed.
Henry, on the other hand, thought that this was the greatest toy ever once he figured out how to pull the string.
Step 1: He would grab a hold of the little ring on the end of the pull string.
Step 2: He would hold the hamster with his paw and pull the string as far back as he could.
Step 3: He would wait for the little hamster to come flying back at him.
Repeat steps 1-3 for hours of puppy fun.

April 2009
This is one of my favorite pictures of the boys. We have been taking Benjamin and Henry to playgrounds since they were pups and they always loved to chase each other up and around the steps, tunnels and slides.
In this picture, Henry was chasing Benny. Benny went up a flight of steps and down the slide. Instead of following him, Henry, cut underneath the steps, through the sand and met Benny at the bottom of the slide. Needless to say, Henry pummeled Benny when he caught up to him. True to form, Benny rolled right to his feet and kept on running.

The last few fridays we have gone way back to when the boys were pups. This week, I thought we could flashback to January 2006. This picture was taken about an hour after we met Luna. We drove to Miami to adopt her, hung at a pug fest that was going on for a bit and then made the drive back home.
Luna fit in very well with the boys from the start. The drive was long and shortly after we hit the road, we stopped for a late lunch. Since the pugs were with us, we just made a quick stop at McDonald's and ate in the car. We gave the boys a fry and when we offered a fry to Luna she took it and then promptly spit it out. We were shocked! What kind of pug had we just adopted? I didn't think they made pugs that didn't it everything!
